Default alignment pins for frame/body?

i was looking at my AIM, and there are 2 body/chassis alignment holes in the rocker area. is this a common way of setting the body back on the frame for a c3? when i did my 65 i did not do this?... does anyone have these pins to rent or give me dia or buy? give me your thoughts please. thanks troy

I've seen pics here on the forum of people using dowel rods through the frame when setting the body for alignment purposes.

The hole is on each side about mid way under each door. It’s been a while since I did this but think I remember using a 3/4 inch dowel. There is a corresponding hole in the frame.

any long (2 feet in length) round item about 1/2" diameter, will allow you to nudge the body over the alignment holes.

I thought I saw somewhere that using these frame holes and dowels is how the St Louis factory did it.

You are correct. Use a dowel and go into these holes and go all the way through the frame and move the dowels until it is straight up and down and then tighten up your body bolts to 45 lbs/ft...assuming you have the shims correct.

No need to break out the micrometers, digital calipers or dial indicators on this.

I tighten up the #2 and #3 body mount bolts first then do whatever you feel like after that.
