R&T says ZR1 bests McLaren Senna!
Just finished reading the January 2019 Road & Track article stating the ZR1 beat 7 other cars they tested for their "Performance Car of the Year!"
The $122,095 ZR1 came in first with the $964,966 McLaren Senna coming in 2nd!
It was also ahead of the $353,800 Ferrari 488 Pista and $294,250 Porsche 911 GT2RS.
Interesting read!

Is this what you’re speaking of! I think there was a thread about it several weeks ago.

I agree.^^ Do you perceive that as good or bad? And if at equal cost, chevy would have some splaining to do.

But it's not at equal cost. That's the point.
if there were a 30k sports coupe that could give the ZR1 a run for it's money we would be praising that 30k coupe. The ZR1 is a supercar. The Z06 is a supercar light .. and the grand sport is almost one.
I think the cool thing is that the Senna is only a few bucks away from "hypercar" territory... that's impressive.

- A car as close to the ZR1 as the GT2 RS is the Senna on track (.88 seconds @ NCMP) would only cost around $48,300 (before mark-up ).
- A car as close to the ZR1 as the ZR1 is to the Senna on a track (2.59 seconds @ NCMP) would only cost about $19,600 while also being a better touring car, sounding better, and looking better!

This is an excellent point! Just to show the real value that you are getting in dollar amounts that actually make sense to regular people like us. If we swapped the benchmark of the $1,000,000 Senna to the $140,000 ZR1:

How about we strip others down to the cost of a ZR and see what we are left with......................For the $$$$$ you can't beat the performance, that speaks volumes!

Do we have to maintain it with parts from over there? I think I'll stay domestic with the chevy. Besides, I plan on having to do a lot of maintenance during down time from the track. Easy money in and easy money staying there (relatively speaking, of course).

But the guys who could afford to pay and are willing to pay 300k to 1 million bucks for the mcclaren or Ferrari or Porsche feel the same about your zr1 as you feel about a Honda Civic R or Ford Focus RS offered for 2019.

i bet General Motors cumulatively paid road and track more in ad money then all the other manufacturers combined to say these sweet nothings. in the end 122k is a lot of money. But it is less then 300k to a million bucks it would cost to buy these other cars so the value is certainly there.

Side Bar:
But don't find much Corvette advertising in magazines compared to Porsche. I don't subscribe to a "clipping service" but my subjective opinion is it's only a fraction. Always found that service for NASCAR races interesting and expensive. They have folks watch the race and if your name/logo appears for more that ~5 seconds the length is measured. The ad folks can show you the equitant cost to pay for TV ads that long!
Recall the Lowe's Car, which they didn't pay a dime, had three supplier sponsors who rotated names on the rear bumper every 1/3 race. That is often visible from a camera in the car behind! The one I recall was Pink Panther Insulation. They get an exclusive supplier position!
Remember asking the Pepsi marketing person who was at Richard Petty's (were we had a minor sponsorship) shop why they didn't have a car. She laughed and said we don't need our name exposed, who do you think pays for the Food Lion car? They get preferential end isle and exclusive promotion deals!

Not the ones I've spoken with. They're aware of the capabilities of the Z06 and ZR1. And a couple told me that they are afraid to use their cars for practical transportation for fear of things like parking lot door dings. Corvette owners don't need to worry nearly as much about such things.

Door dings and bad weather is what my kia all wheel drive Sorento is for. For the mclaren owner that’s what his Land Rover or Porsche suv is for.
