Default 2018 Z06 Borla X-pipe impressions

well I just got it installed yesterday. I did not expect much from it. My goal was a lil more tone in exhaust and if I got few ponies great. Install was pretty simple. Took more time jacking it up on the lift than actual install. Impressions.... I noticed a pretty big difference in sound. It’s so much raspier. It crackles so much when I let off the gas or downshift A8. Very happy and I’m glad I did it. Only other mod is Katech PTB. Those who are on the edge of an X-Pipe, no doubt go for it!

I will be installing my Borla x this weekend..How did the intake noise change with BMS? S/c whine more noticeable? Does it sound like a cold air intake unit?
thanks

you should go with the AFE unit as the stock air box and tube has
most restrictions. Filter change may yeild
in a placebo affect imo

That popping, crackling downshift noise is what I am looking for! Can you get this sound with a manual transmission and the Borla x pipe?

No.

I have a manual with the borla xpipe, katech PTB and BMS filter.

No crackling on the downshift, or did you mean on decel? Either way it doesn't crackle on neither of those.

However for the sound, it's worth the mod. The downshifting with the rev match on with this xpipe is such an addicting sound. You'll be doing downshifts everywhere you go lol. Even if it's not necessary.

Our cars with the borla xpipe is what it should have sounded like from factory. Much more aggressive. Idle sound a tad louder but at WOT it screams, as if you have long tubes.

A8 2018 here and mine crackles
and pops a lot! I’m not exaggerating I wish I could post a video. Is it the tune on the automatics? It’s all factory except Katech PTB and Borla X-Pipe and it crackles
always.

Got my Borla X pipe in the box in the barn, waiting for spring install on my 2018 Z06. Had to make sure I had one before discontinued stock runs out.

Good to hear. I can't afford a CAI, yet, so I went with the $100 BMS.

I bought it a couple weeks ago from RDP and they were saying they only had 3 left. I just looked on their site and it doesn't mention anything about how many they have. I paid $423 with free delivery. They have discount codes when you're ordering.

BMS is the way to go unless going to tune. The stock intake is good for about 620 RWHP.

I live in CommieFornia - several questions for the X-pipe mods - I have a 2017 Z06 - looking for some added pop. Question 1: do you lose control of the npp aspect of the exhaust when you go Xpipe? Will it pass smog in Cali? What does the x-pipe install entail? Welding? Etc... Thanks,

Yes the valves still function. It’s a bolt on mod that requires no cutting or welding. It won’t throw any codes however I hear the visual inspection is pretty tough in California. They may see the missing rear cats and fail you. Very easy to swap back and forth for inspection though.
