Default Leather dash defect - anyone deal with this before?

Anyone deal with something like this before?

I don't know what to do about this... ripping out the dash (even if covered by warranty) is such a chore and I don't trust the dealers here...

Should be covered if car is under the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty.
Missed mine by 5 days. GM offered to pay 2/3rds. I took them up on it, cost me a bit over $900.

I have the Collectors Edition also #177. It is at the dealer now getting the dash replaced under warranty. Also check the center console for wrinkles in the leather, they are replacing it also.

I believe that you're going to have to see what your Chevrolet dealer says about it. That may not be anything out of the norms of the interior. Report back on your findings from your Chev. dealership.

You missed it by 5 days??? If their piece of junk product just failed 5 days sooner you would have been good to go! However it didn't fail 5 days before it's protected end of life so it's partially your fault. You put your faith in GM and purchased a high end vehicle from them which appears to have a defect in a component in many of their Corvettes according to the posts on this forum and they're giving you a break in price to fix their junk product. What's wrong with this picture!!! GM should be ashamed of themselves!

There seems to be two different kinds of 3LT dash defects; the dash delamination issue, which no one in their right mind can deny, and the "leather is a natural product, and there may be 'imperfections' which do not detract from the beauty...Blah, blah, blah..." Much harder to prove.

Yours appears to be the latter. Good luck getting this resolved.

I had the hand rest on my first C7 replaced because a “bony” friend of mind left an elbow dent in it while he was telling some long winded story about bird migration (and not the British bird type.) And that was at 30k. This is under 7k & never parked in the sun for more than an hour. BUT dealers in Dubai are exclusive agents so they give less of a hoot than a dealer would stateside. Wish me luck

Center armrest is an easy replacement, just a couple of fasteners. Apparently the construction or materials were improved as a running change. There's an "Ask Tadge" answer addressing this, I think.

Just had my entire dash replaced for much worse. Purchased as a CPO and was told it was not covered, however my dealer is a great one and so I ended up paying ~$100. Not only that, but GM sent a $500 voucher for any accessories. I'm definitely Blessed.

Lots of threads covering this issue.
Very unfortunate as you pay approx $6000+ for the upgraded 3LT leather just to put yourself into position of possibly having to pay another $3000 in repair down the road.

OP, that's the "natural" characteristics of Leather.. be prepared for it, because if you seek replacement that's what you'll get.

if the center was pulling up around the big defroster vent? now that's the one they WILL replace.. take from that what you will but if you want it replaced? that's the surefire..

That is natural marking, an inherent characteristic in the leather. It is not a defect.

My 3lt's Jet Black dash somewhat resembles the OP's. Perfectly normal character of leather. I advised he see what his Chev. dealer says to him and report back.
