The circuit is the Courtesy lamp circuit 10A CTSY LAMP fuse located in the passenger footwell. That fuse shoots power to all of the coutesy lighting including:
Right and Left vanity mirror
Rear compartment lamps
Right and Left courtesy lamps under dash
etc.

If you have any of these other lamps working, then the fuse is not the issue.
You can check the ground for the underhood lamps as per the attached pic.

If all checks out OK, then I suspect that it may be the mercury switch failed in the underhood lamp assembly. In that case, a new assembly would be required. (approx $30.00 from GM. You can check the parts for sale section also. Many cars parts for those that are parting out C6's.
They stopped adding the underhood lamp to the C6 in 2007.Under Hood Lamp - GM Part # (25664746)

I beg to differ - my '08 has a under hood light offered as an option.

Did you check the connector that runs down by the radiator support, or did you check to see if you have voltage with a test light at the light socket.?

I agree. They were an option after 08/08/06 but they did not come from the factory as standard as in the 05 and 06 and some 07. The other standard deletion was the pull down handle for the coupe rear hatch prior to the 08 models
