Service fuel system
Hi everyone how u all doin ? I need advice from u.. I have the grand sport c6 2010 model and yesterday a message appeared ( service fuel system ) so I took it to nearest Dealer having in mind that fuel pump should be replaced but was told they will dismantle the transmission in order to diagnose and replace the fuel tank and pump , ad per them it's as per GM manual and in order to avoid damaging other parts.. is that normal ? Also is dismantling and assembling back the transmission would harm the car ?
Thank u

Replacing fuel pump (and tank?) is a costly job - make sure that's really the problem first. The "service fuel system" message will generate codes that help define the cause.

If this is the documented fuel leak issue, it is covered by GM for the first 10-year/120k miles of the vehicle's in-service use.

My warning is for the fuel gauge. It goes wonky when I fill it. Goes back to normal after a burn off a gallon or so.

how come dont think that is the issue, the car was not using its power when u kick it down while the gauge went from full to empty , the alert kept poppin till I dropped it in the dealer, also while ignition it takes time to fire up

Replacing a fuel pump on these cars is very costly, basically the whole back of the car needs to be removed in order to drop the fuel tanks to get at the fuel pump ( especially if the car is a auto) Seeing that your car is a 2010, IF the problem is a leaking fuel pump module, GM will repair it for free under the bulletin 15862...good luck

Only reason I asked is because how GM operates outside USA may differ from abroad.
Make sure dealer will honor any items w/ recalls.
To clarify it's the fuel tank sending unit collars that're covered under warranty, not fuel sending units.
SUs do crap-out, not an inexpensive repair due to dropping rear for access & repairs. Big labor hours.
Cost of sending units themselves peanuts, by comparison.

My passenger side got replaced for $2200 under warranty, they asked if i wanted to pay for the left side as well while they were in there ,i said ask it to warranty ppl not me. Ifeft side goes bad they’ll have to pay. Warranty said no lol
so yes its expensive at least for passenger side. Saw a video online of someone doing driver side by himself without dropping transmission or drivetrain, squeezes out the tank somehow
