Yup, and those common 2-bar spinners, found on every A/C car...

30 # away from my VIN. That's got to add to the value.

I think I saw this at auction a couple years ago. They didn't mention the engine numbers then either.

Is anyone here able to determine if that's a REAL 1963 AC Compressor?

Somebody got a good buy, assuming it has the original engine and everything is right. Car looks nice.

That's one of those extremely rare factory re-issue VIN plates!

Take a close look at the Vin tag on the blue one also. The way the bar is ground down is not normal it’s usually only ground near where it is welded number one, number two if you look at the Vin tag you can see the indentation where the weld is supposed to be, and there’s a hole drilled right next to it where it looks like there was a rivet holding another vin tag in place at one time. Probably had a state issued Vin tag. If it was real it was a great buy.

I agree with you.
I also believe that the rivets holding the Trim Tag on are not original.

I see all kind of Red Flags here!

The VIN tag has clearly been replaced or the original re-attached. I’m wondering if it’s even really an A/C car ?

If the original VIN tag was reattached, you would see more than one single spot weld on each end.
It looks to me like both the VIN and Trim tags have been tampered with.

(I can't copy the photo, or I would post it here)

I believe all these things could be explained. After all, these are hourly union workers just trying to make it to 5:00. He throws a grinder up there and if it hits the wrong area, so what. Along with the weld, who cares if it does not hit the dimple. No one is going to fire him, he's union. The hole though is a puzzle. But if it did hold another tag and he wanted to hide hole, would he not just cover up hole by sliding tag over.

I don't know enough about them to make a comment one way or another but I see what I think Rich is suggesting with the pop rivets on the trim tag. I also notice what looks like a hand stamped #4 on the vin tag, could that attempt at a delivery date stamp knocked the tag off and maybe there is the story.

I agree if It's legit someone got a great buy.

For comparison purposes, here's a car made 35 cars later.
