Default Will I break 500rwhp?

Asked same question on ls1tech, curious if answer will be the same.

Reworking my c5z due to low oil pressure. Current build did 445/440 (404 ls2 stroker, worked 243 heads, unknown cam, 1 7/8 kooks, fast 90/90.) was pretty impressed when I was sold the car as I was told it was an ls6. After loosing oil pressure a week after buying it, and then finding out it was a stroked ls2... those numbers were pretty weak.

I’m thinking previous cam had ivc way too soon for stroker (dyno graph kinda confirms this with super early power band), and heads were too small and milled too much for a stroker (measured at .035

New recipee is 405 stroker (4.015 bore je asymmetric pistons), same 6.125 lunati I beam rods, same eagle 4” crank, prc 227 heads, cam motion 238/252 114+3, ported fast 102/ 90mm tb, tsp 1.72 roller rockers, same 1.75 kooks, 11.8 to 12:1 comp, 10% ati crank pulley, Johnson 2126st axle oiling lifters, improved racing crank scraper, 11/32 pushrods

really shooting for 500/500rw with a tq curve that doesn’t fall off after peak. Any last minute changes I should consider?

Just out of curiosity, what were your oil pressure symptoms?

Oil pressure dropped to 6 at idle, 24 reved up, once fully warmed up.

Cold engine oil pressure was perfect

I'm having the same oil pressure issue. I was hoping to get away with a new pump and not put new bearings in.

pull your oil filter and cut it open. Check inside the pleats for non ferrous metal. That’ll tell you for sure if bearings are going south before pulling engine

I would venture to say you're right there. For reference, I ran a ls3 stroked 416, trickflow 255 genx, 1.75 longtubes, stock ls3 intake and if I remember correctly 232/242 112+5 .630 .605 and was right on 500. Could have gotten a bit more with some more time on the Dyno. That was on a Dyno Dynamics that typically reads a bit low. Cam will make or break it, looks like you're pretty aggressive there though.

Yes, I believe you will get there with that plan. I have a 402 LS2 with Tricklfow, 1 7/8 (I think), similar compression, lightweight valvetrain, 240/244 - ~.6 cam, Fast 102, NW TB, electric water pump, under drive pulley, etc. and made over 500 rwhp before 6,000 rpm. The torque is above 500 from ~3500 rpm or so. Not sure if you will be able to hold over 500 after peak though. That would be tough and if you spin the motor to 6500 or so, would place the rwhp at something like 630. Sounds like a cool build.

If you want, PM me and I would be happy to send you more info.
