It's just short hand for "I'm posting a reply in this thread just so that it will get bumped up to the top of the list where it will be visible again"

You could type anything really. Even a " . " would suffice. Any sort of post will push the thread up... as mine has just done, so "bump."

Think of it this way... I just got "bumped" up to the head of the line.
by typing the word Bump, or anything, that post gets the thread bumped to the top of the first page of the C5 General forum. Its the reason the vendors post something every day in their sale threads... to get then to the front of the line again. .

The only dumb question is one that isn't asked.

OP - just disregard some of the posts here. Your question was fine and it's the way newer members can learn about the workings of the forum. Another common post is TTT which means to the top - which does the same thing as a bump - brings the thread to the top of the first page listing.

If you think something is a dumb question or you just don’t want any flak over it...just search the web or “Google” it. There is nothing you won’t find that way.. Every time I think some comment or statement makes no sense, I look it up and bam there it is in black and white. Ttt

Geez guys! I'm sorry for making a simple question from a relatively new member who's not up to speed with all the forum acronyms and making this a big deal. I've owned Vettes most of my life (67+years) and always did all my work on my own. However, my C5 is needing some TLC being 14 years old and all the high tech electrical issues are above my knowledge and that's why I came here. It's not as simple as my 73 was and I needed knowledgable advise. You have great people like Bill Curle and others who have helped me out more than once. I'll ignore the smart "!! Comments and say thanks to those of you who have helped. I could say more, but I want to stay above the trash can, not in it. Thank's again.

If you can not see the fun in a little teasing (AFTER) we all gave you the correct answer you sought.) Being a little internet and open forum savvy will go a long way i9n making your experience here more fun. Ive been here 18 years answering questions just like yours, hundreds of times. after 30,000 Private message help request. MANY starting with " sorry for the dumb question " and never once turning my back on a help request just like your... a little teasing for the " Sorry for the dumb question sentence, Deserves a little irreverence,,, its all in fun, nothing personal and in a way the hazing tease is really a welcome to the forum greeting..

Keep asking any questions & ignore the rudeness. I would suggest doing a search first as every probably has been asked many times. I only ask you don't ask opinions on tires, wheels etc, those have been beat to death.
