Recommended shops in the SF Bay Area for cam install + tune?
Hey guys, new member here, just picked up a 2007 base C6 with a 6-speed a couple of months ago and am already wanting to dig into the engine for some more power. I'm looking to get a cam + all of the supporting hardware (valve springs, trunion upgrade, pushrods etc.) installed and tuned, is there anywhere in the Bay that you guys could recommend who does solid work? The closer to Oakland the better but am not opposed to driving for a good shop. Also, is there anything else I should do while I'm in there? I want to grab an ATI Super Damper (stock balancer is a little wobbly) and upgrade the oil pump too as I'm planning on adding a thermostatic external oil cooler and want this as reliable as can be to run road courses once or twice a year (It's a DD the rest of the year). I've been reading that the Melling 10295 oil pump (higher pressure, stock volume) would be the way to go, any insight on that? Or am I overthinking the oiling situation and should just stick with a stockish pump? Sorry for all of the questions, thanks in advance!
Also, if it makes a difference the engine "build" will consist of a full bolt-on LS2 with 228/232 112/1+2LSA cam. This includes Vararam CAI, ported TB, fast102, ARH 1 7/8 long tube headers no cats to full 3inch back. I want it to be as reliable as can be as it's 99% a daily/weekend driver and see no reason why it couldn't be as reliable as stock except for maybe shorter service intervals for the valve springs which is no big deal.

In the past have heard of Synergy, used to be in Fremont, now Livermore. Do a search on their rep, as well. Re a dealer who knows how to do the work, Abel in rio vista is a bit away, but call and talk w. Rich, parts mgr. He'll be able to give you a tuner name as well.

Why don't you go down and see Nick at Newtech Performance. He is in your back yard at 2557 W Winton Ave # 7F, Hayward, CA 94545. He was referred to me as a guy who knows corvettes; and man he does. It is just that his personality is not up to pleasing the public. Nick tuned my '08 C6 for the track, plus he dynoed it twice and got my LS3 to 424 hp at the rears. He use to own and race a C6 ZO6 so certainly knows our cars. Call him and then drive down on Winton.

Have Abel Chevrolet in Rio Vista do the work and then go to Rick at Synergy tune it. Talk with Rich at Abel, he likely will send you to Synergy after anyway.
The issue might be Rich will not like taking responsibility after some else has opened up the engine. He might trust Abel though.
Rik might want to do the whole thing, again another non personality pleaser but he is very well qualified.
You are always out on a limp with internal engine mods....

Matt Gower at GP Tuning in Hayward. They can install an tune a cam. Look him up. There is a long wait to get an appointment but that usually means he is in high demand.
