Best dustless alternative to stock GS pads
2019 GS...just like my 16 Z51.....trails of dust...think I swapped them out with Powerstops ...what is everyone doing for 19 GSpads with less to no dust ? ( I did do a search but nothing came up for GS in particular) .
Thanks in advance

Burning Brakes
Three Ceramic options:
Powerstop - $125 - Rotors will get a brown tint. If you don't care these work fine.
Carbotech - $450 - No brown tint but way overpriced.
Hawk - Same price range as Carbotechs. Some say they still dust a bit. Not enough posts to be sure. Maybe others can comment.
Good luck! Try changing your search to powerstop for some colorful opinions.

For a high quality low dust performance street pad I would recommend the Carbotech 1521 100% made in the USA. Non-corrosive dust will not harm your wheels or paint. You can order on line at http://ampdautosport.com/brake-pads/corvette/ or call me at 216-780-8825. The part numbers you need are front CT1405 and rear CT1718 these will be listed under the C7 ZO6 section. Use promo code z28 at check out to receive your forum discount. Price for the pads with discount should total $418.00.
The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non-corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use. If you want

2020 C8 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
I have Powerstop Z26 on our '17 GS and have no issues, including NO browning that some folks talk about. Both front and rear set was about $120 on Amazon Prime 2 years ago. Little more today.
Front brakes are Z26 1405
Rear brakes are Z26 1718

I had powerstop on my Z51 and got the brown rotors. I installed carbotech on my GS and the same week installed powerstop on my friends GS about a month or so ago. He told me he already has the browning on his rotors. Next time I can get our cars together I plan to get a pic to compare.

I’m very happy with my Carbotech 1521. 80% less dust than OEM pads. 98% of the OEM feel including initial bite and pedal effort. I also like that they are made in USA. Get them from Adam at amptautosport.com.

It covers:
1) Switched to Carbotech 1521's on my 2014 Z51 and instead of washing my wheels every 100 to 150 miles or my black wheels were pitting from the OEM pad dust and looking bad I washed then only when I washed the car (as I do now with the Carbotech 1521 pads on my Grand Sport!) Car stopped great with cold and warm pads.
2) When I bought my Grand Sport had ordered PowerStop pads as folks were saying they worked fine. Installed the day I got the car home.
3) Found with my situation of needing aggressive stopping with cold pads the PowerStop were not stopping as well or with the confidence or precision as my Z51. Waited ~900 miles to see if they would get better. They did not! In addition did have a brown deposite in my rotor slots.
My main concern was stopping with pads before they were warm/hot. I removed them and installed Carbotech 1521 pads. Was back to even better braking when the pads were cold or warm as the Grand Sport has 6 piston, significantly large front brakes than the Z51! It's been almost two years, very little dust and what is there does not cause pitting. Wheels look great and only get washed when I wash the car. Pedal modulation is super with very predictable stopping. I can stop on a dime even with cold pads. That is something I do every day as I merge from my street onto a 4 lane highway with traffic going ~65 mph and turn a short distance later onto another rural road. Lots of braking confidence.
The PDF shows the reasons for that superior cold pad brake performance. Note: Has nothing to do with being "cold outside" as some have asked! It's stopping performance before the pads get to ~250F or hotter that is the issue.

I installed the Powerstops on my son's Z06 and under aggressive driving conditions were not nearly as good as the stock pads. So....I replaced them with the Carbotechs and they were significantly better and had the stock feeling.
If you drive like an old man like most of these guys do the Powerstops should be OK.

No question that the Z51 and above OEM Brembo pads provide the best stopping performance, but yes, they come with lots of dust. If you want to stop in the shortest possible distance, you have to expect dust. I've gone w/ the Carbotech 1521 on both of my C7s. They provide very good stopping power for street use, and very little dust.
I don't cheap out on things like brake pads, and it's laughable to me that folks would worry about spending an extra $200-300 lbs for a component as important as pads.

It's laughable to me that people would spend an extra 2 or 3 hundred dollars for pads because they worry about what color their rotors MAY turn, rotors are an expendable item, not a custom feature that needs special care.

Simple question
So what if your rotors are bronze?
