Default Mid engine C8 opinion

I am on my 8th new Corvette when I see the new photos of the C7 it was at 1st glance a stunning new body style--It was sleek proportional and the body lines just flowed beautifully I was automotive pornography !! And i had to Buy one-
Looking at all the latest releases of the secret photos of the C8 I did not get the same feeling at all .
To me It looks like the front end of Prius with the short ugly squaty front end ( where as a Lambo has a longer sleeker front end) and the mid to back end of the car reminds me of my fathers Dodge Magnum wagon ! Sort of boxy and bo concept of flowing sleek lines--
We have to be honest Yeah we all want a mid engine Corvette but these photos of the C8 to me if not changed are hedious---- The whole side of the body lines have no flow as the C7--The front end again looks like a Prius--Maybe in 3-5 years the C9 will look much better--But as of now ?? I am hangin on to my C7 It is pure art and with it's perfectically designed body lines will be hard to beat with that ugly C8--

How can you come to any conclusions when you haven't even seen the car??

I'm not sold yet until see one up close, but admit the spy pictures don't do much for me. On the other hand pretty certain GM does not want to build a lemon.
My bet it will be a knockout but could be wrong.

Exactly. Let's assume for the moment that what we see today is actually going to be the alleged production car - well, no one is forced to buy it. Plenty of choices out there. It's okay to be loyal to the heritage, but if it doesn't appeal then it's bye-bye.

As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I have seen enough to make me very confident the C8 will be a beautiful car with performance to match.
If we all had the same opinions and tastes life, and this Forum, would be boring.

Agreed. And styling is a matter of personal taste. Personally, I dislike the C7 ... a jumbled bunch of uncoordinated cut lines and vents to my eye (although they finally got the exhausts right!). Much prefer the C6 (which is why I still own one). Glad other people like it, but its not for me. We'll all just have to wait and see what the C8 really looks like and see if it appeals to each of us individually. So far I like what I am seeing, but ....

It’s too soon to say with any certainty what the C8 will look like. Camo covered mules have been but a tease, and some really good renderings on here still just educated guesses.

When I ordered my C6, one of the very first delivered in my market, I loved if from the day I placed the deposit. Big butt and all. In fact, I still prefer that big butt to the ugly *** of the C7. The C7 however is sleeker and has a far superior cockpit to that of the C6.

I’ve owned six Corvettes and I’m ready to order my new car. The question is, will it be a C8, or a 2020 911 4S? Won’t know until that introduction of the C8 with no camo and a look at the cockpit. The new 911 cockpit is sweet! Either way, I’ll keep my C2, which doesn’t need Spanx to shape its pretty rear end.

All I see when I look at these photos is a mid-engine something with NO details. You don't think your conclusions are a bit premature? How do you know what the headlights/taillights/windows, or anything else looks like? If by "hideous" you mean anything that's not the long hood/short deck that's been a signature since 1968 that's one thing, but to judge something you haven't really seen yet seems to me to be a bit mis-placed.I'm looking forward to actually seeing it before I decide if I like it.

I agree that the mules running around are not very stimulating. The video that was floating around a month or so ago of the C8R at Sebring is another story, it looks wider and lower. Hopefully the final will look closer to the C8R than the mules running around.

I'll reserve judgment until I can pull my Grand Sport right up next to one and compare.

C6 is trash compared to a C7 - My C7 is the first vette I owned and said wow this is something else and I owned many - nothing before it comes close to the C7 Generation Vette in all areas

ok I'm done

Totally agree. While, like the OP, I am somewhat underwhelmed I realize I have no intention of buying a Vette with a Zebra print wrap...I will reserve judgement until the reveal w/ paint and "black/painted" details.

Beauty is definitely in the eyes of the beholder!!! I felt the same way when the C6 came out. I saw the first picture of it on Motor Trend magazine and KNEW I had to have that car, a little more so that when the C7 first came out! So I get it. This time it's a little different with the M/E. I started liking it more and more as more and more updated pictures are coming out besides the fact of driving a Corvette so different,. I even sold my white C7 Stingray convertible loaded ($86.000 Sticker price) 3 months ago because I wanted to start saving for the C8! I've already owned 14 Corvettes and I have NEVER sold one before the the next generation came out. I feel there's going to be something different this time with the C8. Time will tell....

Yes it is all a matter of taste and opinion---When i saw even the camaflaoghed views of the C7 you could already tell it was going to be something special---And i fell in love with the new body stye even
before it was actually relaeased to the public-----I ordered a 2014 BEFORE it was offered and any real renderings were availiable---In the end i was not disappointed--It was better and more than i had ever expected--Like i said earlier i have purchased 8 new Corvettes even bought a 1994 before any real photos were released---And i loved it as well---As it turned out the dual cross ram TB was horrble !! but i still loved that car-- Soon GM introduced the LS Corvette and although I loved the body lines of the new C4 the engine was troublesome and underpowered I soon ordered a NEW 1998 LS1 Corvette and it took me awhile to get used to the new body sytle I soon became in love with the C5 and loved the new LS engine--It was bulletproof and would be even to beat my old 1973 Big block C3 that had a 4 speed manual trans
Yeah we all get used to the new body styles eventually but after 50 years of owning NEW corvettes althought I appriciate new body styles Today we look at other brands to compare bodies on "Supercars " If the C8 wants to compete with Ferrari and Lambo and Porche they need to emlumate their sleek design with a Mid Engine car-----I hope GM will listen to us that are dedicated Corvette owners and respond to our thoughts YES they may be only renderings and
I will wait to see the acual car--But I didn't have to wait on the C3--C4- C5 --C6 or the C7 before I pulled the plug and ordered one----This is the 1st time i am going to wait to see as The renderings are
very close to the real car-----To me the C8 is still HEDIOUS looking yet the base model still retains wither the C8 LT! oe LT4 engine
