Goal Of 1hp per CI Accomplished
The rebuild of the 327 engine from my '62 'Vette is finished. I had a goal of one real horsepower (not factory) per cubic inch. They hit that mark on a Dyno with 330hp and 385 lbs torque. With the original 4sp, and a new 3.55 Posi rear end, this should give me all the performance I can handle (Underline "I"). I used the Voodoo hydraulic roller cam, and roller tipped rockers, and the original intake and heads.
I hope to have it on the road in about ten days.

Its a joke...
It means you would have lost 10hp or 30hp respectively...from those stock motors.

Ya, I doubt that those gen one 340 or 360 hp engines really had that rated hp. A real 330 hp engine in a C! or C2 should be a blast to drive. Good for you.

That will make a nice driver. My recent hot rod build, non Corvette, dyno'd at 398.9 HP out of a 306 C.I. engine in a 2100 lb. car. Lively would be an understatement. AZZ puckering would be more appropriate.

Some may find this ten year old article interesting and informative: Engine dyno comparison
It's great to know that under ideal conditions the Fuelie could be expected to be a superior engine to the carbureted version.
Here's some pics of my engine minus the intake as it is ready to be loaded for transportation. You may notice the Pertronix Flame thrower coil, and what seems to be the original distributer. The distributer has been converted to electronic ignition. I didn't want the big MSD box on my firewall sticking out like a big wart. :-)

Thanks Jim, but you really shouldn't change the wording of my post. It's a matter of semantics as I used the term "superior" instead of just "better". The test supplied by Kellsdad seems to imply the difference between showroom fuelie and carbureted versions was marginal. The dyno comparison seems to have been made with "blue lined" engines. This made a "superior" difference in my eyes. :-)
