Default When will the C8 be unveiled?

With NAIAS gone, what are the possibilities? Do you think they'll use a special standalone event, or will they go for an existing motor show like Geneva or perhaps even a motorsport event? Surely before the end of this year I guess.

I don't know, but start even an additional thread to this one in case nobody has talked about it yet.

There's all kind of speculation in just about every thread here. Truth is, no one has any idea. Last October, it appeared that the New York International Automobile Show (NYIAS) in April was GM's plan based upon some inside sources. However, some of those same sources now believe it may slip past that.

It will be unveiled when GM is ready even if they have to do it at an event they put together specifically for that purpose. The convenient thing about a big show like NYC is that everyone who's anyone in the automotive and other media outlets will already be there. However, if it's too far in advance of a final go ahead for production, they won't do it there.

My vote is sooner rather than later. Definitely in line to get one so unless it's a complete surprise I will make the trek to wherever that chosen venue is.

I just don't understand why the car has to be completely done before they unveil it. Look at Ford with the GT500, they unveiled it but pretty much gave zero information about it and would not let people pop the hood.

A post I made in a different thread, kind of along the line of your thought:

"I'll go a little further. Put out a C8 "concept car" at the 2019 shows, let everyone have a peek at what most likely will be (ala Viper). Meanwhile, beat the hell out of the C8R to fully understand what works and what doesn't then move to good to the production model. Beat the hell out of the C8 production model and release in 2020. I can see the marketing line now, perfect vision..."

Agreed. GM revealed their new EV SUV at the show and it's a long, long way from showing up in Cadillac's showrooms. Anyone seen any Camo'd Cadillac's running around?

The C8 will be unveiled on the date and time that GM chooses. Enough said about it already.

Who knows! I was really hoping that it would be revealed at the Detroit Auto Show.( I am going anyway for Saturday) I have been predicting in January all along but again....who knows I still think it will be revealed in a stand alone way via a live broadcast/internet. I wish they would do it soon!!

How is "beating" the hell out of a C8R going to help a production C8?

Is beating the hell out of an aftermarket transmission that is designed only for racing, going to reveal weak areas of a production DCT?

Is beating the hell out of a specially designed and built race engine going to reveal weak areas of a high volume production engine?

Is beating the hell out of a Cockpit of a C8R going to reveal weak areas of the heating/air conditioning design in a production C8?

I think they are actually "beating the hell" out of production C8's today and that's how they discovered the "weak" electrical design, that would not even be used in the C8R that hasn't raced a single race..

Etc, etc, etc.?

Why cannot GM at least tease the Car? I dont understand how we have not gotten a Picture of the cars silhouette, or some small teaser videos like the C7 had. Because those were awesome videos to build up the cars debut. If it is going to debut in April at the NYIAS then we should have something by now, anything.

When GM is ready I'm betting we'll get a similar release build up.

i think it was or is on hold. dollars to donuts, deep within the hidden bowels of gm where such things are discussed only within the cone of silence, a few dates have been discussed with no decisions made with some dates being as much as 3 years out.

The C8 reveal will most likely take place at a stand alone event coinciding with the start of a major automotive event. While the NYIAS is a possibility, I now believe it will be AFTER April...AND, we will know it is coming because GM will roll out teasers before the reveal.

Let's ask ZERV, I hear he's a pretty reputable source.
