Looking for some microfiber recommendations. Has anyone tried any Amazon brands? Companies like Towel Titan have told me they get the same towels as Chem Guys, Rag Company, and Meguiars overseas and price them for professionals. Anyone tried these or other brands? I would rather value shop or look for professional quality towels rather than brand shop. What are your thoughts?

I have tried a couple Amazon brands, but wasn't blown away by the quality. Either they weren't that soft or they would lint or shred. I now buy all my towels from TowelPros and The Rag Company, and there are a couple types of towels I buy from Autogeek when they are on sale. I also try to choose Korean fiber towels over Chinese.

The only cheap Chinese Amazon towels I have been okay with are these extra fluffy 450gsm ones. I use them for final buffing after I apply spray wax or detail spray with a better quality shorter nap towel first.

I'm ok with the cheapies. They leave a little lint but that gets removed on the final pass anyway.

I've used all kinds of towels from the cheap ones to Adam's to Rag Company and a few others I'm blanking on. Hands down the BEST towel is the Creature from Rag Company. You can order them on Amazon and they are Prime items so free shipping and 2 day delivery. I use grey for waterless wash, blue for detail spray and black for wheels and tires. I'll probably buy green for wax and polish removal. The biggest question I have is, what are you trying to do with the towels? If you are wanting to dry then other towels would be better options. I realize I'm more obsessive about detailing and having tons of different types of towels and products, but having a system to avoid using towels on multiple surfaces and also having procedure specific towels really helps out. Not only does it cut down on the possibility of introducing scratches into the paint, but it also makes sorting for washing easier also. I never wash my paint towels with my tire towels. I also will grade towels by soil level inside each group. As crazy as that all sounds, it does save the paint, but also helps to phase new towels in and out and save money.

For the paint, I prefer a higher GSM plush/soft towel like the eagles. I have used the no name eagle towels from amazon and they are very good. If you're super OCD, then you will notice some lint from the amazon towels. I haven't noticed lint from the ones bought from TRC. It's also good to give your towels a wash before its first use to reduce/prevent lints.

COSTCO has a great value on orange utility MF towels at 20 for around $12. These are the ones that I use fore non painted surface cleaning. If they get too bad I just discard them and go get some more.

Costco if you can, great quality and inexpensive. One of the high end detailers in town turned me on to these. Another great source is autogeek.net, cannot go wrong with them.

Local car dealerships buy the Costco yellow microfiber towels, too. If they get nasty, toss 'em.

I bought a 10 pack of these and they were junk One edge on each towel was literally falling apart from the fraying. luckily I was able to return them for credit.

Autogeek has the widest selection of MF I have ever seen. They also have a great chart the indicates the best towel to use for a specific job. My personal favorite is the Gold plush towel. It can be used for numerous jobs and a good value especially if you can catch one of the 20% to 25% sales.

YES! Agreed 100%! I have become a big fan of medium-nap towels with silk edges, and have kind of strayed away from the super-poofy edgeless towels. The Autogeek Gold Plush towels are great, and my little secret that I will share with everyone is that Autogeek has a bunch of XL 25x36 versions in the "outlet store" for just $5.50 each BEFORE discounts! I bought like 10 of them. The black dye from the silk edges kind of bled onto the gold fabric, so they sell them as defects. They work perfectly, and are my go-to towels for wiping down my daily. I usually use Bead Maker or Meg's D156 as drying aids after washing the daily, and the XL towels are just about big enough that I can use just one to wipe down the whole car. They are great!

I admit to being a microfiber junkie over the years. I have tried so many towels always looking for the next best thing. As I stated above I just returned the defective order of The Creature towels from the Rag Co and went back to the CG Gold Plush towels. They are so much nicer and less money also. Good quality all around detailing, and polish-wax removal towel. No need to spend for thicker edgeless towels that I bought in the past. I also now buy the Kirkland 36 pack microfibers for interior detailing and wheel cleaning for about $20. Use them once or twice and throw them away.

I have more MF towels than some pro detailers I know. The edgeless poofy towels (maybe 400-500gsm) that everyone sells I pretty much only use for final wiping, or I give them away to friends as gifts. They just absorb too much product to me, and they seem to leave lint, no matter how gently I wash them. They do make perfect wheel towels now, too.

It's funny how just using towels once immediately makes you say "yes", "no", or "I will use these for something else". Not only have I specified certain towels for certain tasks, but I even buy those specific towels from specific vendors, because I have already chosen who has which type for the best price. Hahaha! TowelPros for my compound/polish removal and glass/interior towels, The Rag Company for my sealant/wax removal towels, and Autogeek for my waterless wash/spray wax/detail spray towels. This hobby can make us addicts. LOL
