Cool...
I am going to Wal-Mart to get special edition stickers. Those stickers even make a Corolla more valuable.
Then I will have the same car. It will be just like installing hash marks on the fender.

Is this going to be like a Roush Edition Mustang? You know, the one you pay 10K more for a bunch of Roush Stickers, and a Roush exhaust. Of course, marketing is everything.

Marketing genius. Most car companies do this... Add a few stickers, or some other cheap add-on, and charge thousands

Yep, it's basically limited to how many they can sell.

I find it amusing what GM calls "special editions".
Typically, they're nothing but a dress up kit of some type.
But if it's "special" some people will buy them.
Give it more hp or interesting wheels, not just some embroidery and decals.

Insider info
I have from a very reliable source that the Special Edition is Grand Sport (coupe only) with a tuned LT1 making 550hp/550tq, features a DCT, forged wheels and comes factory lowered.
LOL... got a bridge to sell ya too.

Starting with the end of the C3 Corvette every generation has had a special edition car.
1982 Collector Edition
1996 Collector Edition
2004 Commemorative Editon
2013 60th Anniversary Edition
I think with this C7 special edition that should tell us that the C7 is done after 2019 production run

I'm certainly not in a market for another car. I have a "special edition" GSCE, I like it, but certainly don't consider it more valuable or special than other C7's (but I do like my car!), mostly for the reasons that people state here. Special colors, badges, somewhat limited numbers etc, doesn't really do much. I've stated before that if they really want to do something special, it should be more than just the badging, would love to see them come out with a really limited run that has some performance changes made to the car as well. That would be special in my book and would be a really nice way to sign off the C7 for those that end up buying one. Probably still won't be worth a ton more, but would be a nice, more true special edition.

I have the special edition Stingray called the Grand Sport. If the next special addition is anything like that jump, it would be cool. But if it's stickers, then no thanks.
