Default Trans trickery with Tadge

  • METHOD OF CONTROLLING A TRANSMISSION TO SIMULATE CLUTCH PEDAL FUNCTIONALITY

    Publication number: 20180156330
Abstract: A method of controlling a transmission includes initiating a temporary neutral mode of the transmission, in which at least one clutch of the transmission is disengaged to prevent power flow through the transmission, when an upshift paddle selector and a downshift paddle selector are both engaged within a pre-defined engagement time window. At least one of the upshift paddle selector and the downshift paddle selector is held in their respective engaged positions to maintain the temporary neutral mode of the transmission. The temporary neutral mode of the transmission is ended when both of the upshift paddle selector and the downshift paddle selector are disengaged, by re-engaging the at least one transmission clutch that was disengaged to initiate the temporary neutral mode.

As I understand it, that sounds similar to how launch control might be implemented on a DCT.

Interesting. Another valuable/crucial tidbit that should have been in the manual.

IIRC, it puts M7 into rev matching mode.

Yes, this is very very interesting indeed. This basically would function as an imitation/homage to the "double paddle" clutches in Formula 1 cars from roughly 2010-2015 I think:

This system wouldn't function the same way, but it'd be pretty cool to pull up to a stoplight, pull both paddles, floor the accelerator, and then let the last paddle out as the light turns green!

If the C8 uses a low speed TC in conjunction with a DCT, launch control functionality will be significantly different.

Many exotics are using this type of system system for DCT coasting capabilities. Perhaps the EPA fuel testing parameters allow, and then gives “bonus points” for coasting in the simulated test cycles, to either eliminate or reduce the amount of the fuel penalty charge.

Yeah, sounds more like coasting to me than launch control. I would presume launch control would be more interested in ending the neutral cycle when the pedals hit a certain threshold, not by releasing a shift paddle.

The Porsche GT3 PDKs do the same thing...

I am not an expert on DCT, Hell I have never owned one or dealt with one. My question is regarding the 664ft lb TQ number listed in the first post. Does this mean the DCT can only hold around 664ft lb? Can you beef these up? What is cost to increase capability to 800whp or 1000whp?
