Default 57 Mel Blanc Corvette at Fusion

I was looking at this car at Fusion Motors in LA. I could care less if it came from Blanc but wondered what the experts here think. I could not paste the description but thanks.

Aside from summary of the early history of Corvette, there is only a bit a crap about a cartoon voice actor, and 14 words about this particular car.

1957 CORVETTE FUELIE, #'S MATCHING, MEL BLANC COLLECTION, STUNNING!!!

This '57 Fuelie is absolutely gorgeous and was acquired from the renowned collection of Mel Blanc, famed voice actor known as "The Man of a Thousand Voices" including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and many others.
This Numbers Matching example has undergone a recent engine refresh and runs impeccably well. The classic color combination glistens and is a real head turner. This is one of the nicest Fuelie on the market and won't disappoint.

Yes... The car deserves a better description....celebrity status is a dicey thing...
The consignment shop that sold my 61 had Nicholas Cage's split window there for sale; I don't think it brought a single dime extra from the name recognition - went overseas IIRC...

No surprise there....Nicolas Cage is an absolute whack-job with pretty much no credibility. Especially from real people into classic cars. He's a cartoon character that spun off into orbit. Now, if that split was owned by Steve McQueen or Paul Newman, I'll bet it would have made a difference! Personally, I would rather own a car with FTF provenance than a Nick Cage car. The FTF car would be the better sorted out car, for sure!!

Hold on now, you didn't like Con Air? There was a Corvette in it.

The Eleanor craze sacrificed a lot of original cars on the alter of making a movie "tribute" dream into reality.....
For a while they were bringing stratospheric prices - I haven't checked lately

LOL, now that's funny right there.

Of course, in this case, the knock-off falling off didn't cause or materially add to the car's problems.

BTW, does N. Cage have a boilerplate clause that requires a car to be destroyed in each of his movies?

One of the most succinct, accurate, devastating reviews of an actor's performance I ever heard was a critic stating that Lorne Greene, "...was trying hard to develop a second facial expression".

Fits Cage to a "T" IMO.

Cage typically has the same look regardless of the scene. Kind of a, “who the hell am I and what am I doing” look. Some would refer to him as a mouth breather, but I find that insulting to real mouth breathers.

It will likely still score near 100% for originality, even with the damage caused by the improperly installed knock off wheel.

Mel Blanc made so many of us baby boomers laugh hysterically so often, that yes if you are in your 60's like me, that it was a real plus! (you maroon) as spoken by Bugs Bunny. Nick Cage, not so much, although Elanor is cool!
Very happy to see that Mel had great taste in cars!!!!
He was a real PROFESSHHHIONNNAL according to Daffy Duck.
You younger folks should grab a beverage or 10 of your choice, and watch some of Mel's best work.
It was way more than a voice.
So much more!

Marty

In the Shelby, Porsche and Ferrari world name association adds considerable value to cars when car and driver are linked together via racing success/victories. While not household names or celebrities, they add incredible status and value to the cars they raced. In the Shelby world, anything touched by Bondurant, MacDonald and, especially, Ken Miles can double a cars value.

As I recall, it was Not a Mel Blanc car, but that of his son. 20 or so years ago (Pillsbury was still alive), it was the focal point of an auction in Monterey where allegedly two "Hollywoodites" who didn't like each other got into a jousting match over this car, resulting in a winning bid in the area of 235K. As I recall, Mike's comment was to the effect that it was built as a 250HP because the owner didn't want to spend the $$$ for the 097 and the popups.

Apples and oranges. Blanc and Cage are hardly icons of racing. Some actors do cross over though. McQueen, Garner, Newman and of all people Dickie Smothers.

I remember his son had a 1957 Fuelly-it was red and I saw it at an auction on tv maybe BJ about 10yrs ago.
I remember they interview him and he talked about his dad but never mentioned his dad owning a vette.

It seems tht when cars are owned by known car enthusiasts, it might add to the value, but not otherwise. Of course, I've never owned a car previously owned by a famous person, so I have no first hand experience.

I thought Mel Blanc was pretty cool, though- he voiced a lot of famous characters and probably had a great time doing it. Fortunate fellow. And the car looks nice, I wish my '57 was a fuelie.
