It's the same exact stuff that Walmart sells. Cheaper at Walmart.

I wouldn't care how cheap it is at Walmart or any other store. I'll stick with the established brands...

Not trying to start an oil holy war here but there are much better choices out there for the Corvette than Mobil 1 (no...not Amazon oil).

The Mobil 1 that was the original fill back in the C5-era is not the same Mobil 1 sold today. EPA mandated a reduction in Zinc levels (and other additives I believe) a few years ago to meet clean air standards...the reason you shouldn't run modern oil in vintage muscle cars without adding an additive like Lucas.

This is not a lab test, it doesn't give you _most_ of the important figures.
Go with what your dealer recommends, or what your race shop recommends, or what your engine builder recommends, and don't overthink it.

Some insider stuff. When Dave Hill wanted to build the first benchmarked 200,000 mile motor . there were lots of discussion on how to get there. there were many top tier ideas, One was make it light, avoid the gas guzzler tax.. Keep it within budget and deliver it on time. Raising the run temp was revolutionary but in testing, hotter is better for longevity. Not so good for Hp. Running a hotter motor temperature was challenging, since the cooling design was a bottom breather. WE knew that pulling air from a black top surface that can see 140F on a Hot 95+ F Georgia asphalt highway in the summer did not deliver a lot of heat transfer to cool this motor.
OIl is not just lubricity, its oil and an additive package. Mobil developed a high temp additive specific to the LS1 in a Y body. This additive will help stabilize the integrity of the additives under the excessive design of the run temp. The reason GM says to change the oil in a C5 every year is because of the heat saturation and the breakdown of the additive package that protects the motor. The run temp of an LSX in a C5 is unconventional . Its the reason we could certify 200,000 miles on this motor, and when torn down we found every spec to be within tolerance.. The C5 was way ahead of its time in 1997.
I know people will say they screwed up a lot of things in the design.. The reason for this is Time and budget. From a clean sheet of paper it took two years to design the C5. Its a daunting task.

Do you have the full designation of the current Mobil 1 package? Does not seems to be available here with GM4718M standard. It is not that the temperature is very high here anyway...but...will have to change the oil anyway one day.
thx.thank you in advance.
