Default Information

I have a 67 that has a radio/heater/defroster delete and I was trying to find out how many coupes might have come that way.

There are gross numbers for individual options, but when you ask about combinations of options the math breaks down because there are no records of that data...

Any numbers given would just be a guess. Having said that what horsepower is your car?

Currently the car has a 350 but the tach shows 6500 and oil show 80 lbs. It was born on April 19, white, std black interior, 4sp., PW,PB and that is all I know so far. The car was set up for road racing with front and rear flares, runs 255-50-r15 tires and has a single hoop roll bar, regular gas tank., On the 350 is a complete l-88 air cleaner setup plus the hood holds the air filter

Signs of the car maybe originally a high horsepower big block with the tach and 80lb oil gauge. That fits the no frills dash of minus heat, defrost and radio. Interesting though that it has PW. Any signs of a tank sticker or any other factory documentation?

There were only 35 cars with heater/defroster delete for 1967. I assume 20 of those were the L88 cars. That leaves 15 remaining.

There was no radio delete. Radio was an option, so no radio simply meant that you did not order that option. There were 747 cars that year (out of a total of 22,940 produced) that were ordered without a radio.

Obviously car was bought to be a racer of some sort.

or ordered to a very warm climate with no radio stations or didn’t like a radio in a car.

Re-read Post #5.

When I posted my reply, I did not know what OP stated in Post #5. But it was obvious to me what car was used for.

I'm sure your numbers are as correct as available information will allow - but I'm kind of surprised that there were only 15 non-L88 cars that were sold heater delete. I would have suspected a higher number.

You are correct!! I looked again and found a few more. On Page 404 of Noland's Book he shows which cars had the heater/defroster delete by both engine size and body style (coupe and conv). He states that the 35 number does not include the L88 cars, since they were considered off-road and the delete was mandatory .........so instead of subtracting 20 from the 35 number, you add 20 to the number. So for all 1967 Corvettes the number is 55.

I should have looked at Noland's Book first, but instead I relied on a listing I have of various options and deletes in my files. This listing was incomplete.

Larry

EDIT: To the OP, look at Noland's Book on C2 Corvettes, page 404 for the breakdown by model and engine

not really it could have started out in a warm place. And then sometime later it could have been turned into a race car. Getting a shipping report would settle that real quick. If the car was sold new in Wisconsin you know I’m wrong

Keith:

I won't argue with you on this, since it is not important to the OP request. However, even in the deep south (where I have lived most of my life) you cannot drive a car in the rain (whether hot or cold outside) without a defroster and a heater to warm the air. ...unless car is air conditioned. And this car is not. The windows will fog up in a heartbeat and you cannot see the road.

That is fact............give it a try sometime when you can. No heat and no defrost and no AC and no cabin air movement.........windows up to prevent rain from getting in the car............temps can be warm or cold, doesn't matter.

I understand that. That’s why it became standard for the 68 model year that all cars and trucks have a heater
