1963 Corvette Project Car. Bought to restore but way too much for me to finish. Good frame, 327 engine with 4 speed - Not original to car, looks like 64. Lots of parts. Hard top and soft top included. Has original vin on dash brace. If you ever wanted a 63 Corvette convertible this is your chance to get one and build it like you want it. You can’t find one under 20k that is buildable. Nice 82 corvette wheels with very good tires. Nice doors with good glass and internals. Bring cash and trailer. No tire kickers please. I do not want to sell it but already have three other projects and this one looks to be more than I can handle. No title - Bill of sale only. I can’t help you get a title. AL does not title cars this age. I have a bill of sale where I bought it and will give you the same. If you don’t know how to get it registered in your state then please do not look at this one. It will sit in the garage until it sells.

What in his description of the car was a “ crap attitude”? It was a n honest and complete description of what he was offering for sale. Doesn’t seem to require a judgmental comment .

The guy put air in the tires, hosed out the rat turds, and hung a door. If he can get 9 grand more than he paid for the car, more power to him. Maybe the car will be put on the road someday. At least it got saved from certain death, rotting away on that old farm.
I have absolutely NO ISSUE with his selling the car.
The widow got a good price for the car, more than she originally expected. She is happy, as am I. Something is finally happening with that car.
I have communicated with the buyer. He is a good guy, and we have dealt with him before. He has a couple of other projects going, and has realized how much work this one is going to be. I already knew that.
I hope it sells, and he gets a good price for it. I do like what he has done with the car. It looks more like a complete car now, which IS an improvement. The engine is froze up (no surprise there) and he is trying to get it freed up. If he manages to get it freed up, that will help. If he manages to get it running, that will be major.
I didn't even think it HAD an engine. Frozen or not, it's a plus. The more of these old sleds that get saved, the better. I hate seeing them used as chicken coupes and raccoon houses. Win-win, IMO, and you are a better man than I for even getting involved in the mess in the first place. My hat is off to you.

He did a little more than that, and yes, he did save it from "the son-in-law".
I am happy that the car is back in circulation, and the widow is OK with what she got for it.
I wish that would happen with all of those old Corvettes out there.
I keep getting phone calls from people who know about the farm. They went to look at the 63 when it was there and for sale, and saw the other old Corvettes.
The widow just gives them my phone number when they ask her about the other Corvettes. She doesn't want to deal with it, so I tell them that none of the other cars are for sale; they are spoken for by members of the family.
A lot of people want one or more of the 56-57 cars still out there.
From a value perspective, as long as you and the widow were satisfied with your sales price, move on.
However, following the “sale trail” is educational for the people on this forum, so thanks for the follow up.

Met the buyer of my 61 at Old Town one afternoon when I saw the car there and got trapped into a photo shoot with him and his family. In the course of things I mentioned how much the rare, correct 270hp dual carbs were worth and then I heard rumors he was going to sell them and throw some Edelbrocks or some other crap on the motor. Never heard what happened and glad to remain ignorant...
As to the car in this thread - nobody will convince me the man bought the car and "suddenly" discovered he had too many projects - I think a flip was in the cards from the outset. That's fine - but not my favorite sort of hobbyist if he even deserves the title..

I agree with this 100% as well. The few times I've seen cars that I sold I was always, always, disappointed. The most recent sale of mine was a 104 year old Model T ford running original drivetrain and engine. The new owner was clueless on how to start and operate it. I gave him two lessons and offered to give him several more. The last time he drove it was when I delivered the car, and he burnt the hell out of the transmission bands.....I TOLD him you can't 'slip' them like a clutch...you have to stab the pedal so they grab the drum. It's been 9 weeks, and I haven't heard a peep. I don't want to.
As for Frank's opinion that the guy intended a quick flip all along on the '63, That's the first thing that came to my mind when I read that initial thread. He had planned to flip the car. Again, I totally approve. Better than having it house rodents or burn down in a meth lab explosion.
And he kept it out of the hands of the clueless kids, who likely would have just let it deteriorate further. At least he plans to keep it in the garage until it sells.
There is nothing wrong with any of what he is doing!

That sounds perfectly reasonable to me. They way I read it he was trying to make sure people know what they would be getting into and how to deal with it before using his time.

The way I read that, he does not want to go through the work of making a deal and just before (or after) it closes, have the buyer back out because they suddenly realize they won't be able to get it registered or titled. He states what documents it has, now it's THEIR problem to figure ho to deal with their state DMV.

Thanks for "getting it" (unlike some)....here is how I would have done it:
"This car was bought legally via a BIll of Sale in Alabama as they don't title antique vehicles, check with your state DMV on how to register it where you live. Once you know that you can get the car registered and titled I'll be glad to work with you on the purchase"
