Default Fuel Keeps Flowing When Removing Fuel Lines From Fuel Rail???

I’m replacing the Injectors in my 89’ and the service manual says to remove the Fuel Pressure Connection Assembly, and the two fuel lines connected to the fuel rail. When I did this, fuel kept flowing and wouldn’t stop. What do I do?!?! Please help..

Even with the front end slightly higher than the rear I still had the problem you describe.

My solution was to quickly connect a rubber hose between the two lines and secure it with two hose clamps.

Siphon 5 or 10 gallons from the fuel tank. The fuel level is high is causing the fuel to pour out of the lines.

I normally found just cracking the gas cap and the front end raised would slow if not stop the flow, like mentioned a loop of hose or what I am not a fan of clamping the fuel lines

Yep, with the way the tank is situated, it's an occupational hazard. I lost several gallons when changing the fuel filter.

it might help to re3leae the pressure on the fuel rail schraeder valve, loosen the gas cap and disconnect the two lines at tank.

Decades ago I was under the car changing the fuel filter. I had an old incandescent light bulb trouble light then. I tried the "do it quickly" filter change with gas running down my arms all over the place. I noticed that the light bulb was actually smoking. I realized later how lucky I was.

You must cap the lines with either rubber caps or I used to use small corks.

This happened when I first got my 89 years ago.. The guy working on my car removed the fuel lines to do the water pump, the next morning when he opened the shop to finish the job he smelled gas.. During the night my car had pumped 15 gallons of gas onto his shop floor. It's a miracle the shop didn't blow up from the furnace coming on during the night...WW.

Just saw a vid in which the mechanic pulled the FP fuse, started the engine till it died from fuel starvation to drain the fuel lines.

Damn, why hadn't I thought of that...

I've read that. In addition there are 'pliers' available at various places like NAPA that can compress the fuel line and pinch it off.

When ever I'm doing ANY type of fuel replacement or changing on a C4, I take the line loose from the gas tank. You will still have what ever is in the line, but it won't pull any more gas from the tank. Five minute is not worth it and it's accident waiting to happen.
