Default 65 c-2 convertible tops

For those of you who have replaced your convertible top.
What kind of material did you use
Who do you think has the best product
What do you think about the Stayfast material If you used it did you have any problems.
If you care to give us a price for material and labor
Where you purchased it
If you know any good installers in the East Tennessee area

2021 C2 of the Year Finalist - Modified

for me it depends on the car, my hot rod car I usually put stay fast cloth, on restorations, vinyl. I have learned over the years that Al Knoch sells the best tops for a C2 corvette, attached are 2 I built with Knoch cloth tops:

Its not even a debate IMO for "driven" cars....

Haartz Stayfast is the way to go.....tough as hell, easy to clean, won't easily get pinched in the folds and rip, luxurious feel - and you can leave it stacked in the top well for a year and snap it right up again - it doesn't shrink...

The only drawback is that the material didn't used to come in white, I've read that now you can get some sort of white but I don't know how "white" that white really is.

My '61 top came from Al Knoch and the install was $500 6-7 years ago....a lot depends on the condition of your frame...
If you use an installer who is an Al Knoch distributor you can snag a nice discount on the rag...

I'd recommend Al Knoch. My soft trim kits (dash, seats, door panels, carpet and the vinyl top) were purchased from them and I did the installation myself. No problems with anything and very good quality.

I have nothing but praise for the Al Knoch top I bought in 2011. Found a local shop in OKC to do the install, they nailed it.

Richard, if you have some time, you can probably get on Al Knoch's schedule for the fall Corvette Expo (October 2019) and accomplish both tasks at the same time. There were quite a few cars lined up at Corvette Expo last week at the LaConte Center to have tops installed. His crew is awesome and they do this daily. It's hard to find someone more competent at installing a C2 top these days.

If you're inclined, I'd get on their schedule now. It's probably too late to get on their schedule for Carlisle already. Call Al Knoch and ask for Melanie.

Good luck... GUSTO

I talked to them at Corvette expo they did 14 tops in a little over two days. They get $1200 bucks
I think the Fall expo is an outside event so I don't think they will be doing installs
My best opportunity was this last one in Sevierville. I am still looking to find if my top can be straightened out. It has a nice Stayfast top on it
I would post a picture if I could ever get it posted on here.
Thanks much for your info
