New here with a new to me 91
Just introducing myself. I had an 89 Corvette in college and since then have been in third generation Camaros and Firebirds and trucks. Recently, while hunting for a nice 92 Z28 after selling a 85 TA, I realized my FBody days may be over. Most of them are ragged out or people want excessive $$$$ for them that I just refuse to pay. As a result, I decided to look back at C4's...I always wanted a later one with the newer exterior and interior.
After looking at a few, I picked up a 1991 Corvette with the L98. After having a 93 TA with three LT1 I was totally fine with the L98 and thought having the last year of it was cool. Anyway, it's a very clean car and I am thrilled with having it! It has some quirks to work out but I'll get them licked. I have attached a couple pictures. I already threw some ZR1 replicas on it and will be tinting windows soon to complete the blacked out look.
PS...I'm aware the GS stripes are incorrectly placed. The previous owner put then in such a location to cover up some spider webbing in the hood. While I was going to embrace the spider webbing and yank them....they have kind of grown on me and I'll probably leave them till I can get hood repair/repaint.
Factory wheels. They are dark gray...which i think is cool and are currently for sale in FL. Beautiful wheel, just love the ZR1 look.
Day the new wheels were installed. As you can see, all the old wheels are boxed and in the old car ! Not bad cargo capacity.
Interior is very nice and clean.
Love the lines of the C4.

1991 was the only year that had the new exterior (as well as the new interior) styling with the L98. That's a cool and possibly a very special year for collectibility in the future.

Congratulations. The '91 looks to be in good shape
The stripes aren't bad either. I think a white C4 needs some color to set it off.
Enjoy it.

Congrats on the new car!
I dont love the very fake hash marks, but i get it. I probably wouldn't change them either if the spider webbing is bad.
Good news is white is easy to paint and you could maybe even spot fix it.

Congrats on your "new" '91 and welcome to the Forum.
Wow, the interior looks like new.
I too have decided to move from IROC-Z to Vette, particularly after the engine fire on the IROC...

Hey man welcome to the forum -
I have a very similar story and same frustrations as you.
Was into 3rd gen F-bodies for over 10 years (still am) but sold my '89 IROC hardtop LB9 back in 2009. During the course of my ownership I've always loved and aspired to eventually get a C4 Corvette. A number of years later after I started my professional career I wanted to get back into an IROC and to also what you said earlier...nowadays its impossible to find one in the middle of the spectrum that needs just a view things and some TLC to get it back up to par for a good price. Now all that remains are junk-boxes and mint condition original cars starting at $30k and up....And to think just a little over 10 years ago I purchased mine for $4500 and sold it for $3500!....always knew it was a mistake and that they would be going up in value but I was in college at the time and couldn't hold onto it any longer.
Nowadays I have a '94 C4 Z07 LT1 that I just purchased this past November. There was a few 3rd gen Camaros that I was interested in but running close to $10k and were not that nice and decided to jump on my '94 that I found because it was the right price and just wanted something different rather than just getting back into my old car. For me back then, it seemed like when I was in my Camaro ownership years even the C4 was so far out of reach and so unattainable...but I love the car, what I would do for my IROC back again..but now I'm pretty much a full Corvette guy. 3rd gen f-bodies have come up in value tremendously over the last 10 years and if you ever can get one for a reasonable price, do it...But I just can never see myself paying $30k and up for an IROC unless I hit the lottery if I had that kind of coin to spend again on another car I would be in a C6 grand sport or something...
You made the right choice with C4, you will love it (trust me!) You will find a lot of help on these boards from people

C4 of Year Finalist (stock) 2019
Damn OP, that is a nice interior. I can't believe how fresh that is. My '96 is white as well and I actually kind of like the stripes, I get why they've grown on you. They make me think of 'war paint' more than real GS ones. Congrats all around.
I had looked at 3rd and 4th gen F-bodies a while ago, thinking they'd be easier to find or more affordable than a C4 (which is what I wanted more anyway) - and ran into exactly what you and Brooks described. I'm not an expert by any stretch but the choices seemed to be either junk or wicked expensive, which surprised me. Why is that? Weren't more of those cars made than the Vettes?

- 1991 RS
- 1989 Corvette
- 1992 Z28 L98 black
- 1992 Z28 L98 ( w/28k miles - kick myself for selling that)
- 1985 Trans Am...traded a Harley for it to get back into the scene. Was a nice car....but soooooo slow.
I always buy them, sell them, and regret it. But you are right, the Corvette is a stunner looks wise, still has that 90s flavor, and is so torquey!
As for the stripes....I have always been a grand sport fan and loved the strips associated with them. With these however, I guess they dont bother me because it's not a grand sport, but is inspired by them I suppose without copying them? I dont know....justifying them till repaint!
