Moving from my beloved C6 to a C7 Grand Sport. Should I?
Hello Everyone,
Thanks in advance for everyone's input.
Yes, the last two years I've been thinking about selling my 2008 Artic White manual C6 coupe to purchase a 2017 to 2019 C7 Grand Sport. The C6 has been incredibly reliable and needless to say I have added my touch to it since I bought it from a Corvette crazy gentleman in the Pittsburgh Pa area. He kept it immaculate and in a heated garage. My only hesitancy is that having owned the 2008 since 2011, I know it very well and like I said earlier has been a joy since I've acquired it. Never a problem - ever. Then again, its for weekend spirited pleasure driving, etc.
I'd like to hear how your ownership has been for everyone with a C7. Grand Sport input is a plus and if you moved up to a C7, from what generation you did so. Prices are well in my budget too.
I get it. A C7 forum and what do you think I'd hear from everyone. Go for it !! Don't hesitate !! etc etc. Tell me whole-heartedly what is it that gets your gears turning about the C7.
Oh, BTW, die hard manual driver. Why should the paddle-shifting preference over M7.. Fast shifting is a given, not a good enough reason because of course it is.
Thanks everyone !!

The C7 is superior in every way
(ex '07 wide body, modified coupe, '14 Z51 coupe owner and current '19 Grand Sport coupe owner)
(all have been manuals)

2008 M6 Coupe to 2015 Convertible M7 to 2019 Z06 M7 Convertible, can not think of one thing I miss from the C6. All three have been problem free but the C7 layout, power, electronics, and the list goes on just head and shoulders above the C6.

I've owned a few C4s and a C5 Vert. I currently own both a C6 and a C7. Although a C6 is an amazing car, the C7 is just an overall far superior car in almost every way... The GS is just so beautiful in terms of its body lines. I have a Z51 so performance are pretty much on par...but the GS has wider tires. You will absolutely love the C7 and "feel" the upgrade over the C6... Good Luck!

C6Z to C7GS here. I miss that LS7 motor, but everything else about the C7GS is better.
Base C6 to C7GS? That’s a no doubter. Pull the trigger and enjoy the heck out of it!

You have everything to gain going to the C7 Grand Sport. It's an amazing car. I just drove one at the Spring Mointain owner school. It's a track monster. You should plan on going to that, if you buy it new that is.

I went from a new 1977 C3 A3, to a new 2017 C7 M7.
Never ever even considered a C4/5/6.
You're definitely doing the right thing.....

Although it's always personal opinion and preference, I believe most would agree that the C7 is a clear improvement, particularly the interior. However, if your C6 is "beloved" to you I would hesitate moving to a C7 right now. The reason is that the C8 is imminent. For people chomping at the bit it is taking an eternity, but in the grand scheme of things, the C8 is not that far away. From what we think we know today, the differences will be nothing short of astounding, way more than the differences between C6 and C7, and possibly, though we don't know for sure, without a manual option. Let's keep going with the idea that your C6 is beloved. So if the C8 comes out and is so radically different that you do not like it, you still have the C7 option, which is an incremental improvement on the C6 you have also liked. There will be plenty new ones available when the C8 drops. On the other hand, if the C8 really blows you away, it might be time to jump on the next generation.

I've had my 2019 Grand Sport for nearly a year now. I love it. I don't like C4-C6 Corvettes, cheap feeling, not the best lookers IMO (then again I'm young). I am enamored with the C7, especially the Grand Sports and Z06s. They are a huge improvement ergonomically, comfort wise, aesthetically. The only things I dislike are the outdated infotainment system, the plastic center console and the horrible cameras. I use android auto so that curbs most of my infotainment issues. I plan on going aftermarket to replace the center console with a matching carbon fiber one and I tolerate the cameras.
The Grand Sport is perfection if you want a car that can handle its power. I'd definitely recommend upgrading to a C7, especially a Grand Sport if you want don't want the extra power of the Z06.

I moved from a 2003 C5 to a 2014 C7 - absolutely no regrets even though I really liked my C5. As others have said, the C7 is a superior car in almost every way.
Only you can make the final decision, but I wouldn't have any worries about making the jump to a C7 GS.

I sold my C5 for cash and used the money to trade my '12 GS on a '17 GS. I really liked my C5 (had it for 18 years and put a ton of money in it), I really liked my C6 (bought new), but I LOVE my C7. I've only had it since October, but I'm glad I moved up. My only complaint is that I feel that the seating isn't as good as previous models. I'm 6' @ 220lbs, which isn't large by modern standards, and I still find the driver's seat a little small and foot room is tight. My wife is somewhat petite and has the same complaints. HOWEVER, I like driving it more than I dislike the seating and it's an acceptable trade off for me. Go for it.

I too went from a 2007 C6, wide body, Z51 stick to a 2017 Grand Sport. Decided to try the A8 and like it a lot. All the previous postings nail it. My only regret is not upgrading to the C7 sooner.

I'd keep the C6, but I bet that I will be in the minority...never warmed up to the C7 body style

You've come here to be talked into it so I'll also throw in a yes. The only problem I had with my 2008 was the body control module went after 74K miles.
I knew Id get a C7 someday then stumbled across a 2016 Z in 2017 at a deal I couldn't resist. Had no intention of getting a Z.
The only problem I know of with a C7 GS is reports of wheels cracking. There are many threads on this.

I never experienced a Corvette before I bought my base 2016 C7 ( in December 2015).
Six months after I got the base the wife and I went to the museum and factory.
We did some hot laps at the track in our car and a ride along with the instructors.
At the time they used a C6 and a C5 for the ride alongs.
They told us that my BASE was a better car then the race prepped C6 or C5
I should have known then about the upcoming GS but I didn't.
It wasn't long before I just had to upgrade to the GS - its the ultimate C7 if you don't want 650 or 750 hp.
June of 2017 took delivery of my GS.
Mine is an A8 and has the current suspension program update.
I went to Spring Mountain to get educated in their cars.
Since then , I've tracked mine once and its a blast.
Its not a daily driver but I think it would do well as one.
Go for it.
