Picture intense. 1/18 scale Corvette C5R model
I was out the other day, and saw this at the hobby shop. I decided to go back today and pick it up. It is pretty cool. Though I had not been shopping for one, I am pretty sure I got it for far far less than I would have through the usual online sites.
It has a surprising amount of detail too.
All wheels rotate. The rotors have rivets molded into the center hat.
The hood has actual louvers. The roof NACA duct is open.
Molded headers, shocks, and fuel rails.
Clear red tail lenses.
Molded lines with blue fittings.
Flocked steering wheel. Steering turns as front wheels pivot.
Functional mirrors. Opening doors.
All in all, I'd say it was a pretty cool local in-person find.

Excellent model of C5R-002. The actual car was built by Pratt and Miller, like all the factory race cars, but was raced by Riley & Scott early in the 1999 season. You can see the Riley & Scott logo on the rocker panel and rear of the model:

Here is one of mine that I have displayed in a diorama.

I'm pleased with the amount of detail in this model. So much so in fact I ended up ordering another one to "match" my real car. Not as good a deal as this one but I guess it all averages out...
It's nice to know other people enjoy these sorts of things too. to all.
And neat diorama.
