Buying dilema
Hi guys.
Im looking for C6 Corvette 2008 and up but suddenly I noticed that for little bit more money I can buy Z06 or Grand Sport.
I just found two of them at the same dealer ship for the same price.
2006 Z06 25,000 miles for $33,000 LT3
2012 Grand Sport 25,000 miles for $32,000 base.
2008 Corvette LT4 19,000 miles for $28,000.
Which one of those three would be the best choice?I like Z06 but it’s 6 years older, first year of C6 Z06.....I don’t care about auto or manual transmission, t top or not. No big deal realy.
What is your opinion???Resale value in the future ......???
Thank you for all of your opinions even you think C5 Z06 for half of those three price would the the smartest choice. My son thinks that.

Depends on what you are looking for. Are you looking for an auto trans (not avail in Z06)? Do you want a removable roof or conv (fixed roof on Z06)? I would recommend staying with 2008 up to get the LS3 and newer manual trans. I like the simplicity of the base car body -- less areas to get wax stuck in, but very minor thing! The GS is also heavier than the base car so slightly less performance. Sounds like you are leaning towards the GS -- will prob hold value the most.

2020 C6 of the Year Winner - Modified
The GS gets you a newer vehicle ( the '12 has better seats than the other 2 as well), the wide body, brakes & suspension of the ZO6 with the removable top. I prefer the looks of the GS to the ZO6, and the Z06 will come with the added expense of fixing the heads if they haven't already been fixed.

You should be aware that the ZO6 has had a reputation for head issues, check on over in the Z06 forum for more details.
And also the LT4 optioned cars also have history with the leather on the dash boards and A pillars bubbling, seems the bonding is the issue.
GS or base would be my personal choices and it would be the MN6 in the GS coupe, comes standard with the dry sump oiling system and hand assembled engines, a more track focused car.

It depends on your use. The grand sport adds nothing of use on the road, and the z06 is in the real world practically no faster. The wide body cars both have higher running costs, and the z06 doesnt offer any open roof option.
Problems with the leather dash and ls7 and both way overblown. The 4LT interior is WAY nicer, and is worth it IMO.
I have a 4LT GS. The best advice I can give is but the car you want, not the deal you want.

Tough call for sure, there's a case to be made for all of them. But if they're all in the same condition and the heads have been done (with receipts) I think the Z06 is the winner.
If by LT3 you mean 3LZ, then you have the worries of the leather dash bubbling, same with the 2008 4LT. Some cars get it, some don't.
If "base" means 1LT for the GS, that's rather undesirable. I'm sure the three guys here with 1LT's will disagree, but to most buyers it's a problem.
It would help if we knew your needs, wants, and location.
And of course this thread will turn into another battle between the Grandpa Sport owners against the jealous base guys, with 99% of them never driving the car to anywhere near the limits that they're bragging about.

Since you asked, I'd go with the Grand Sport.

I like GS wide body and I would love to have head up display because I have it in my BMW and I love it but is it really deal breaker ?
Im aware of head problem in Z06 and there is no history of any head work

Drifting
If it were an auto vert GS .... it would be a no brainer for me. I'm definitely too lazy for a manual because I like to drive it in town to work and back...... and I love taking top off
like others have said, it all depends on what you want / need. Figure out what you want first, and then that will dictate what car to buy as some options do not come with Z06

Burning Brakes
I would definitely drive each. I was in the same situation as you are now back in January and found a 2012 Grand Sport 2LT that I fell in love with. The upgraded seats are definitely a bonus with the 2012 and 2013. I had to have the targa top so the Z06 was out. I would go with the Grand Sport. I love the wide body looks and prefer the front fender dual gill fender over the Z06, you get the upgraded suspension and brakes and it sits an inch lower than base and has the front splitter of the Z06. Granted tires will be a bit more, but it isn't the end of the world. What package is the GS? 1,2,3,or 4LT
Good luck with the search!

Do you have links to each of the cars, or have you seen them as of yet?
