I know the side scoop and the LED headlight strip is off, but the rest is pretty spot on from a shape and dimension perspective. To me this looks closer than any other render I've seen so far. He/she's a member here, and not much fan fair has been made about their render even though it appears to be the closest thing we have without camo. (and for the record, this was made a few months ago) Just my .02 to pass the time until 7.18.19.

BDS’ model used a photogrammetry technique to estimate the body dimensions. He rendered the images in a orthogonal view so it appears in some views to be longer than it really is.

I suppose he got busy with work and has not had the time to update his model.

We are lucky that Chazcron has invested so much time to detail his model.

Thanks to both of our 3-D modelers BDS and Chazcron for taking the time and giving us some wonderful images and things to discuss while we wait!

Interesting, yes that render nailed it to be honest. Good point.

Good observation. Hope it is correct because to me that is a beautiful car.

First time I’ve seen these. Don’t know how I missed them, but agree very nice. What are the subtlety’s that make this more appealing. Are you sure these were posted here because I think they would have created quite a stir. Thanks!

Seems far less blocky. I’m jazzed for July.

Definitely posted here before, but I feel like Chazcron kinda dominated the render scene over the last couple months because of constant updates to his design.

The above is exactly correct. The person who did this render sometime last fall did receive quite a bit of praise, and it was well received. Because he hasn't done repeated revisions, it just fell off the radar screen.

Cool rendering yet the wheelbase is too long.

otherwise spot on.

I like some of that render, but there are a few reasons Chaz's render appears to be more likely. For one thing the side scoops start on the door...we've seen the way it is molded into the door from below...it leaves little question as to it being real. I may not agree with Chaz's interpretation of the molding on the scoop but it does appear to be the closest thing to the camo car right now. Then there is the front end...the car is not going to have a gaping hole in the front, while it looks cool, there is some kind of solid part in there that fills the area between the brake ducts.

The other reason Chaz's render is the preferred render for many is due to how complete it is. He has included numerous details to fill out the look of the car. I look forward to seeing if he'll add the suspected "vents" on the frunk.

I do however like the look of this render (except the tiny scoop look).

All props to Danny. He encouraged me to make the leap to Blender. He nailed it early on, then moved on. There is a definite difference in mood (and subtle styling deviations) to his renders compared to mine. I've always admired his sense of lighting. I hope he revisits and revises his model and posts a few new ones.

Although it is almost impossible to be accurate in a render if your subject is covered in fake panels, FVS did seem to create good design. This is a talent that few of us posess. I have always said that you have to give the Italians credit where it is due, they have consistently come up with many great designs, from clothing to cars. Although some of us at one time or another may have believed we could design a home or a car with the best of them, I learned the hard way that it is an art and should not be taken lightly. Every centimeter matters and matters big time! I study some body lines and I am just in awe at the unusual beauty of it all. Chazcron’s niche is perfection but perfection isn’t sexy.
Samantha has a perfect body but why isn’t she sexy?

There is a full 360 here: https://www.corvetteblogger.com/2019...rom-bdsvavars/

and here:

I am slowly starting to warm up to the C8. It's been a process for me. I'm still a confirmed convertible top, manual transmission, round tail-light kind of guy.

Agree, wheel base seems long but you have a motor to contend with. Scoop a little long and I liked the side vents that are now gone. JMO.

I agree, I don't want to minimize the work that Chazcron has put into his modeling and numerous iterations. His talent is out of this world.

Still like your rendition the bess. Even with a little help from me, it sure isn't what a Vette should look like. Long wheel bases for a mid engine car scare me from a structural point of view especially when you put a big hole in it where the people go. The C8 chassis is loaded very differently from the C7.

I just can't wait to examine the chassis and the side scoop. The only part of the car that there is little information is the structure above the rear subframe.

The frnt and rear bulkheads on the C8 will have a similar structure. Someone mentioned that the windshield will be the same.

This section will be welded onto the side rails but bolted onto the magnesium subframe (pink 7) which will augment the subframe rigidity.

The C7 upper A arm hard points on the hydro formed beam. I don't approve of the geometry it creates.

See how the A arm is mounted. Wrong.

Somehow, the C7 type structure bolts onto the subframe.

You can see the upper A arm is mounted to this structure which is bolted to the subframe. The wheel and the A arm seem to be on a different plane to the body which is not how CAD files are assembled??.
There is some questionable artistic licence taking place here. What do you make of it.

Bjorg's long wheel base render with some alterations from me. That's going to bend a twist like a bitch.

I always move your noses forward and lower but yours is true to the spy shots.

Appreciate your engineering input Shaka. I am sure your observations and concerns have been addressed by GM I can’t imagine with all the testing and computer simulations that any serious structural issue has not been discovered and corrected. Perhaps the cad images we see were early renditions and have been modified with corrected geometry and additional support

I do not believe the wheel base is any longer than a C7 and seems to be approximately the same as the 488.

The good news is, we finally know exactly when we will get the answers to many of these questions
