Default 1964 Coupe 491AA Interior Question

Does anyone have a picture of a 491AA interior in a 1964 coupe? My car is Jan 15 of '64 St. Louis car, if that makes a difference.
I'd like to see a picture since my interior is due for a tune up.

That's a silver vinyl interior with a black instrument panel and eyebrows and medium gray carpet.

John, for the same interior, what was the color of the sun visors, headliner and trim around the back glass?

I don't know offhand - someone with more '63 trim combination detail than I have will have to answer that.

That would all be silver, I believe. No doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong

I’ve been researching this for awhile now and I agree, all silver.

Mike,

Is yours a 491AA interior? My interior has black carpet, sun visors, and headliner. The rear carpet appears too be original but I have not
removed the piece to verify if somehow it would show some sort of identifiable GM mark or identifier.

Yes, it is, and that is an original interior, the car has 13K miles. Feb. 27, 1964 build. You can ignore the area behind the seats, it is a tanker.

OK, well, I have my work cut out for me, silver it is! It should look nice when complete.
Thanks to everyone for their input.

The silver interiors, and especially the carpeting and seat belts, was probably a bear to keep clean. So I suspect many changed to more practical black rugs and belts too. In '65 on, the carpets and belts were black if you got a silver or white interior.

the carpet will have a paper tag from J.P.Stevens with a part number and a date. I think it will say the color. Good luck

Morning.... If your carpet is original it should have paper tags that look somewhat similar to the pics below, these are out of a '66 coupe
green interior dated 11/15 and 22/65, you get the idea. If that carpet is original to a 491AA trim code it would be very interesting.

Is your halo panel also black?

Ok, I’ll check for the tags when the carpet gets removed. It should be an interesting reveal.

Yes, my halo is black as well as the rear window trim, currently ‘cricking’ I call it.

That is really odd, I can see someone changing the carpets and seat belts to a more practical color, but the headliner and halo panel? Strange.

This has been my quandary, also. Everything is black except the welting (windlace) on the kick panels. Both sides are silver. You can tell the halo was painted, but the other panels look like they were black from the beginning. Once I get it all apart, I’ll be able to inspect more closely and take some pictures.

My car was also originally tuxedo black, then orange at some point and now white. The white paint was a quickie and there is overspray on some trim and chips here and there showing the other paint.

Oh the stories she could tell!

Just out of curiosity rinkydink64 and Factoid what colour is the jack storage area behind the seats painted. The floor under the storage cover
