Are you looking to replace old struts that aren't holding anymore, or looking to modify the system?

I went thru this on mine. I replaced the struts, lubed the crap out of the hinges, tried adjusting the latch, tried to increase the spring in the latch, adjusted the hatch bumpers. None of that did very much. Then I waxed the underside of the hatch and cleaned the weatherstrip and put a thin film of dielectric grease on it and now it pops just enough to get a finger under it to lift.

Don't understand. I release the hatch and it pops up a little, same as it always has. It has the original (8/1977) struts.

Mine was having a hard time popping up, and it also wouldnt stand upright like it used to. I just ended up replacing the struts with these. Now it pops up several inches, holds the lid up-right when, and when shutting, I have to actually put my hand and give it some added light pressure to secure it. Overall it improved dramatically.

Z06 and verts use the same trunk system, so they should work.

Very simple install. Just need to get a small-thin tool like a flat head screw driver or a pic of some kind to get under the rounded plate to slide it out bout 1/4 inch toward you. Do that at both ends and the strut pops right off.
Took me like 5 min total.

This video helped me out. I replaced both of them unlike the guy in the video.

Leftlane1: thanks again for the reference to these replacement struts! Finally got around to installing them, it only took 5 minutes as well. I used a very small flathead screwdriver (a micro/jeweler's screwdriver) to get in to release each of the upper and lower retaining clips. Man, what an improvement! Trunk pops right up now, gives a few inch gap to properly lift it by hand.

It's the little things, but this is such an appreciated little thing.

If anyone needs replacement struts for their Z, these do the job just perfectly and for a great price.
