Default What's the latest with mail order tunes?

Any new information on this topic? Seems like there are two players here, chuck wow and ecs. Interestingly, if you search this topic seems like there are many people unhappy with these chuck tunes and claim that their posts got deleted re the same on this forum? Is that true? Do negative transactions get filtered off of this forum? I sure hope not. Otherwise, why are we here? Is there any real benefit for a tune with just an intake and exhaust upgrade? Thanks for the feedback!

FWIW, I have an ECS tune and am very pleased with it. I currently have full bolt ons. Any more mods beyond what I have now (heads, cam, intake),I’ll go for the legit dyno tune.

For anything less then or equal to full bolt ons, I’d say it’s well worth it.

Another vote for Doug at ECS. I've had a tune from him for a few years now. He's always been very helpful especially with any revisions I've had him make.

I can’t give feed back on the tune yet, But I will say Doug answered multiple PM’s answering my questions before I sent it out. According to ups tracking # they received it Friday late afternoon and I received a email with a return tracking # this morning. Being realistic and not counting the weekend it was an less than a day turn around. So far customer service has been great.

I only have have a cat back exhaust but I will give an honest review on the tune next week after I reinstall and put some miles on it.

Awesome. Thanks. I only have an intake and axle back. Let us know if you can tell any difference from stock.

A lot of complaints are the car owners fault. Somethings hacked up, vacuum leak etc. Best tune in the world wont fit ignorance; otoh theres lots charging for it that have no business doing so.

I've had an ECS tune with a 160 tstat for several months now. Didn't really notice a huge difference to be honest, but it was worth it alone to adjust the fan settings and get rid of the skip shift

Got mine back today and drove about 50 miles on it. Not sure what exactly I was expecting but it’s Worth the $150.

Things I’ve noticed

Better Throttle response
lower idle
fan turns on earlier
O2 codes are gone.

There are a number of competent tuners available today that can help you, it you are looking into a canned tune will make it more enjoyable for driving like was stated above, tuning will not raise peak HP more than a few points but will wake up the car in the 2000-5000 rpm range. Having the car dyno tuned is great for drag racing because you will have a great WOT tune but often misses in the lower rpms. The better dyno tuners will correct the WOT response and then street tune the remainder of the PCM. You can get an excellent tune with using a remote log/tune devise that will give you excellent driving manners and eliminate all the associated problems that are caused by the Adaptive Stratey (AS) software permanently installed in the PCM. It has a few issues with WOT settings unless you take a 4th gear (6speed) or 3rd gear (auto) run to 142 mph

Just in case you missed this elsewhere..... I STRONGLY RECOMMEND tuning the car AS IS even if that means tuning it as stock.

The greatest reward (and biggest bang for the buck) is tuning a car with little or no mods as there is no greater gain for such a small amount of money

than tuning. If you add more mods later, Chuck CoW re-tunes your car for free!

Most people's expectations are exceeded with our tune and CoW BOOSTER! PACKAGE and I will always say that it's the best place to start as

very likely you won't need to spend another penny to REALLY ENJOY THE CAR.

Most tuners will tell you it worthless to tune a car with no mods and I've proven over and over again that it's simply not the case at all.

Give me a ring. 914-332-0049

interesting. Thank you. Anyone have any objective findings about this “booster” package? Sounds like it just makes the throttle super sensitive which may or may not be a good thing
