Caliper Bolt Problem
I've decided to rebuild my calipers and now I can't remove the bolts that hold the two halves together, rear calipers. I got the front calipers apart but those rear ones are frozen on.
I've tried an impact, heat, and penetrating oil (even though I'm not sure how it would penetrate). At this point I'm not sure what to do. I have the calipers just laying on the bench. So what can I do to loosen them?
Thanks,
Dex.

I had the same problem and believe the cause was I could not secure the caliper from moving while on the bench
Remount them on the car and tighten the mounting bolts
Use a breaker bar to break loosen the bolts

another tip, use the impact with the flat end attachment and use it on the caliper where the threads are, then put your tool on the bolt and use the bar, an old guy showed me this trick about 50 years ago and since then I
have NEVER snapped a bleeder, they always come out when using the impact on the side. before this I used to break many of them. I sure that vibration will help on those big bolts you are trying to loose.

Thank you for that suggestion! I'm assuming you mean to use the end of the impact and let it vibrate against the caliper in the area where the bolt is? That makes sense and will do that before I mount them on the car as Phil suggested. The two ideas should work!
Thanks,
Dex.

Folks, you have the wrong idea, what I ment with the impact is NOT to lossen the bolts but use the impact as a vibrator next to the threads, the vibration really works, that is why i said use a FLAT hammer end on impact, works miracles,

Got them broke loose and removed. I mounted them back on the car and used a short cheater bar. Came right off. I tried the flat part of the impact like suggested, but I guess I didn't do something right.
Thanks again everyone!
