I use American Modern Insurance through The National Corvette Museum. They are a sponsor on this forum. You can set the value of your car with them. Luckily I have never submitted a claim but others here have, someone will share their experience with you.

We currently have eight or nine cars on a policy with the National Corvette Museum insurance, and love it. Haven’t had to do any claims with them though, thank goodness, but the rates are pretty good.

Last month I switched to Hagerty from American Modern, The only limit I have is that I must own another car to for a daily driver. It might be a new thing with Hagerty, but you can now drive your classic car to work or the Hardware store without fear. This is from the Hagerty web site. "Cars are made to be driven. With Hagerty, you"ll never be held to a fixed mileage limit — as long as you"re not driving your classic every day." I bought mine through Chris Reince at Allstate in grapevine TX. 866 740 5417.

Another vote for Hagerty. Unlike you guy's I did have to file a claim last year. Out for a joy ride way off in the boonies when a tire de-laminated and hogged out a big chunk of the fender. Call to Hagerty for a flat bed and about 35 minutes later my 66 vert was on the truck heading to a tire shop (of my choice). No out of pocket, it was in the policy. From there, no adjuster required. They said take to where ever you want, have them take pictures and send a bill. No questions regarding my usage or where I was going that day. Two months and over 5K later she is like new and absolutely no hassles. Based on my premiums it will take another 13 years for them to break even with me. A bad but great experience.

I HAVE had a claim with NCM/Modern. Deer strike requiring new front end. It just couldn’t have been easier or with less hassle. All the signs of a company not running on razor thin profits. They’ve locked in my business.

It is my understanding that Hagery doesn't cover restomods anymore; I'm with NCM and had a very large claim - perfectly satisfied with the result and there is a magazine article I wrote about it...

As to running routine errands - this comes up once a month and nobody yet has produced an iron clad statement about that being allowable.... Extrapolating a high mileage limit into anything beyond pleasure driving doesn't count..

As to an agent vs direct to American Modern, an agent can make your life easier; in my case the agent assigned an adjuster who also owned a split window - so it eased the whole process.

I use Midwest which insures with Modern. Very reasonable and the agent for vintage cars, Robbin Terry is a car guy.

American Modern with the National Corvette Museum is great. Had a windshield replaced with super service and no hassle with them.

I just had a claim thru Corvette Museum insurance, have had a few claims over the 54 years I have been driving and NONE were as easy as this one. They are great to work with and share a passion for the sport. Just my 2 cents.

I've discussed my recent claim with NCM here in the past.

Basically, I had a 7" crack on the upper driver side fender lip. It really didn't look like a big deal and wasn't even noticeable unless you got up real close. The cause of the damage and when it occured are unknown.

The NCM adjuster told me to take my car to whatever shop I want to work on it. No estimates required. The shop assessed the damage at $3,000 (yes, I was shocked). NCM had no problem with the quote and OK'd payment in that amount (minus my deductible).

Am I a happy customer? You bet. The process was smooth and no-stress. I can't imagine this process being any easier than it was.

NCM as above. Call Adam Boca 877-678-7626. You can't go wrong.

I have American Modern on my '32 Ford [not thru Corvette Forum] and had a $28 K claim and they didn't even send an adjustor out. Just a check after I sent in an estimate and pictures. What really surprised me was a drop in premium of 3-7 dollars a few months later.

This is what I found online from Hagerty which is the same as all other Agreed Value providers:
===============================
"What are your usage restrictions/guidelines?
Simply put, we want you to enjoy your classic vehicle. While there are some restrictions in the policy, you’re covered for pleasure use, whether it's a drive on a gorgeous summer day, a trip to the ice cream shop, attending club events or going to shows. If you have specific questions about usage, especially if you own a newer vehicle (generally 1990 and newer), we're happy to discuss them with you."

===============================

I've never found an Agreed Value provider who states in their actual policy that they will cover a car for anything other than the above and, believe me, I've looked.

Steve, I will try and find the legal wording on hagerty. I have them right now for the restoration and was told by the hagerty rep as well they want you to drive them. Mine isn’t driving soon so that’s not an issue at the moment. I do have parts and tool coverage. I told him my son and I are rebuilding the car and he said it sounded like we would be interested in an heir ship program. If the car is totaled, 70% or more damage, with the program they pay in full and we keep the car without having to buy it back. It wasn’t that much more if I recall.

Compare the policies carefully. Do you want to drive your classic car on like we all would like to, occasional drive to work or weekend errand car. Also, is there a list of family members drivers that can only drive your car? Check you policy carefully. This is why I switched to Hagerty and the price was just a couple $ more a month.
