1/8 mile time stock Z51
Hey everyone just wanted to share, went to the drag strip on Friday and was pretty sure I was going to be disappointed with the stock tires but to my surprise they hooked super well and overall was very happy, almost to the point of I’m not sure going to drag radials would help enough to warrant the cost. But anyways only got two runs in as the line was an hour wait each time. A8, super small burnout, launch control both times while In competitive mode.

Nice numbers! I believe my I went roughly the same in my A8 16 Z51! 7.6# at 94-95 I think, I will try to find the slip and post it for ya, I can't wait to run this car with some comp tires. My goal is a 7.5 before cam or supercharger.

I’ll be back at the 1/8 mile track this Friday seeing if I can do a little better. I picked up some 19” sport cup 2’s that I think could help just a tad (they were given to me with 50% life left) so I’ll update after this Friday. Weight on the car right now is 3350.

I though I would try them on my C6 , it was like being on ICE , watch this as my buddy made video . that noise you here is the tires all the way down the track ....

Hmmmmm. That’s interesting as they have to hook better than the stock PSS’s. I know it’s key not to do a long burnout with them. I have them on a extra set of wheels so it’s no biggie. I will report back Friday night and let y’all know how it went with them. Worst case the stickers go back on till I can get some Hoosiers.

No .. no .. they don't trust me , lol they are road race tire that depends on having a ton of heat in them at all times . The pilot sport is much better for 1/4 and 1/8 mile quick jaunts
I have a fist full of 1.7 and 1.8 60 ft times with the stock MPSS run flats , I also have a few videos I could share of me almost heading into the wall on those cup tires , which were newer
You want to go faster on street tires , till u get your slicks ,change out the runflats for non runflats .
Also dont run the car with Hoosers or drag radials with your runflats up front . Your cars back end will move around so much on the top end ... you will get the pucker factor plus it's not safe for the other guy ...

I agree with you on not mixing run flats with non...but why do the Z06 guys run better times with the sport cup 2's than they do with the MPSS? Ive seen countless guys with run better times with the SC2's just seems odd that its a extreme dry performance tire and wouldn't hook on a prepped drag strip. Figured I'd get a similar little bump in ET but if not ...yeah a little disappointment. Worst case ill do a light run to see how they hook up its a well prepped track and the MPSS hooked up better than any other regular street tire ive left on. its an 1/8 mile track so If it doesn't hook to start I def. wont be staying in it as the run would be blown anyway.

I could not hook with the OEM tires, tried but was dangerous so went home because I did not want to crash. I only race with DR's stock no tune Base A8 NPP dead hook most runs, this 19 run a little slower then the same 15. The 15 best in the 8th mile did 1.631 60' best ET 7.36 best MPH 97. The 19 has got 60' 1.68 ET 7.45 MPH 96.5 so it is not so fast and quick like the 15 was. Hope it wakes up soon so I won't be stuck with a dog.

7.3 1/8 mile all stock is pretty crazy. I hope to be able to get that soon. Not tonight but hopefully next friday will be running C5 z06 18" wheels with M&H 18" slicks. Considerable weight savings from what I am running now.

With a 3500 DA, questionable starting line grip so I used Launch Control on oem run flats I pulled off a 1.7 60 foot
Next few runs were 11.6 and 11.7
I am happy with that time considering this is my grocery getter lol so no drag radials or slicks for me as I don't want to break stuff lol
Back in the day it would have cost some big bucks to buy a car off the showroom floor that could pull off consistent 11 second runs ... let alone be civil enough to drive every day

That’s about what I did with the stock run flats. I’m trying the cup 2’s tonight. We shall see what happens, track doesn’t start running till around 8:30pm for Friday night street cars. This is mainly just an experiment my final setup will be 18” C5 Z06 wheels with M&H slicks

I am sure that was the reason the MPH plus the DA which is terrible down here in the south , as to why the MPH was off
After spending 5 days at the dealer , a brand new LT1 , shipped from the assembly line and not from a GM central parts warehouse , was installed under warranty

Just to update from Friday night and how the sport cup 2’s did on the Z51.... well...only .04 better lol which prob wasn’t the tires and just an early run on the track. All runs were similar, had a couple bad ones where track was just not prepped as well. But anyways overall they were fine, they felt fine, I think both tires hook well at the drag strip. Hoping to get there this Friday with the new drag radials on. Should def see a bump in time. Almost ready to start nodding for more power.
60’ time was barely better as well. Still can’t seem to break 1.8 but it’s been pretty warm here in Houston.

I'm an experienced drag racer who is disappointed in the drag strip performance of my stock 2016 Stingray Z51 A8 on Michelin SS runflats. Car currently has 9,800 miles on odometer.
Two years ago at Bradenton, FL - TC off, - four second burnout - launch from idle (without Launch Control) - four runs - 1.72 to 1.75 60' times - 11.78 to 11.84 @ 117 -118 MPH. DA 1400'.
One year ago at Bradenton, FL - same burnout and launch as above - First run - 1.72 60' - 11.76 @ 118 MPH. Second severe wheel hop on launch - run aborted. DA 1100'. FT. Took car to dealer, had mechanic do visual inspection of rear suspension while car was on lift. No problems detected. Car drives fine on street.
Six months ago at Bradenton - same burnout and launch as above - First run 1.72 60' - 11.77 @ 118 MPH. DA 1200'. Severe wheel hop on launch - run aborted. DA 1200'. FT.
Other C7 on all three dates had no wheel hop issues.
Possible cause? Bad shock? Other rear suspension issue? Comments please. Thanks.
