1972 with 1978 L-82?
Hello all,
I am writing to ask about my 1972 Corvette as I know you all are very knowledgable
I bought a 1972 Corvette a while back and knew it wasnt numbers matching. When i went to start buying parts for the engine i wanted to make sure the model and year of the engine. After finding engine numbers, i found out its a 1978 350 L-82 engine that was swapped out. Can anyone tell me why they would choose that engine and what the pros and cons are?

pros. forged crank and pistons. the cons are deeper into smog era, but that is mainly tune, timing and carb jetting, etc. it may very well be it is what the person who needed an engine could find. ALSO, it could have been rebuilt and crank, pistons, etc have been replaced. could be cast junk. could be forged aftermarket 383. most likely re-ringed original stuff. so now you know that you know no more than you did before. runs and drives and smokes the tires when asked?

I have a receipt where the cam was replaced in 2011. The car is in excellent shape. Al suspension replaced, no rust, almost perfect paint. Its apparent to me the previous owner paid special attention to it.
I drive it around but havent gotten on it as i am scared to blow the engine ha. I know that sounds crazy as it is a vette. Ive had a bit done to it mechanically. Distributor replaced, plugs, wires, timed, carb tuned so the car runs smooth

Very Nice.. I like the LT1 stripe on the hood.
Does it have a Quadrajet Carb? Stock intake? What can you see on the outside that's not original GM stuff?
