Default Parts sold to another

I gave Mr. Cable an offer for his hood liner for $600.00 which was accepted. All the arrangements were made for me to pick it up this Thursday> When I called today he informed me that he got a better offer and the hood liner was sold

Its against forum rules, so if it really did happen to you, you should start a thread with the particulars of who and when. So should anyone else if it “happens a lot here.”

I have contacted the seller for an explanation. He can respond to my PM privately or post in this thread to be public. He has not logged on the last couple days.

So I'm a bit confused on this one. Forum rules state that the seller has ultimate decision on who to sell an item to. It also states "When the seller's price is met, no higher offers can be accepted." It sounds like the sellers price was not met since the OP here shows he offered the seller $600 instead of the $1000 that the seller was asking. My interpretation of the rules below would be that the rules would only be broken had the seller been offered his $1000 asking price from the thread poster and then sold to someone that offered him $1100.

"4. Purchasing an item for sale
This section continues to cause the most confusion among potential buyers, therefore, the forum will make this as simple as possible for the seller.

Posting an interest in a sale thread, or asking questions, does not subject the thread to being closed, nor, to the item being sold. An item will be consider sold, when the seller says it is, based on the simplicity of the sale.

The seller will determine who they want to sell their item/product to based on the expediency of payment, payment method, location, and overall ease of transaction. While some may feel that the first to commit to purchase in the thread would make it easy, it may not be for the seller. If another buyer lives nearby and can save the trouble of shipping, etc. the seller can move onto that buyer let's remember, it is his item/product for sale.

This will eliminate the confusion of "dibs," replies to a thread, PM's, e-mail and telephone promotions/discussions, which has caused nothing but confusion and frustration in the past.

When the seller's price is met, no higher offers can be accepted. If a seller negotiates a higher price with a member who did not win the item at his/her original asking price, the seller and offering member will subject their account to a permanent block."

I think that by accepting my offer that it then became the sellers price and as you can see he commented "sold'" If he did not my offer he never should have accepted it. The original asking price was $750 and again he should not have accepted my offer.I see it that he then lowered his selling price to $600

This is correct. However, Chaz asks a very legitimate question based on the existing wording of the rule. We have reviewed that and clarified the language in that rule. Thanks, guys.

No response to my inquiry to seller by PM or email. Has not logged back in since this happened.

I will close this thread at this time. If the seller wants to provide his version of what happened I’ll add it to this thread. Sanctions will be applied if no response received.
