Don't recall seeing anything like this on my 58. It does remind me of some type of adjustable body-to-frame bracket which seems to me to be more probable on rear 61-62? Glad I am of no help but not good when something falls off of car that you cannot identify.

Welcome to the forum! Hmm, no radio speaker, small steering wheel and a smooth grab bar insert. Restomod?

Gooday from Canada Finland!
Don't recognize it as being a C1 part. Where did it fall from? Under the car or inside the car? Front or back end?:

I think it fell from the front, It sounded like it could have touched the cooling propell for a while, but could have been any other rolling or moving part as well. It had some wearing, or had taken some hits, but you know I don't know. at least I did not find anything missing from the engine department as a quick look. My Car is very original at the moment small changes in the cocpit, new red interior instead of black, steering wheel. The car will be driven by a wedding couple in the end of next week from church to our party venue Villa Smeds and I would like to fix it before that. I have been driving the car about 50 km now after it fell and I cant see or hear anything so far. I Know that the part came from my car as the sound was not something you wish to hear while cruising your 60 yrs. old vette... Cheers, Jani

Since my 60 has the nose up on a ramp, I thought I'd try to help you out. I checked out the front portion of the car and I wasn't able to find a bracket like that. Sorry.

Hello Jani,
I have had my 59 completely apart replacing the frame over the past 15 months and I do not recall any bracket of that type. It does resemble a bumper bracket, but as you can see from the photo posted by another member, it is not for our car. Is it possible it was already in the road and you hit it?
Regardless, we’d love to see more photos of your car.

Not on your paint!

No, anyone who has spent hours and hours of paint prep, shooting and hand rubbing that shiny coat would never lay a steel bracket on an unprotected paintjob.
Shame on you
I shudder every time I see some person dumping their bag on the hood and rummaging around looking for their keys or phone or whatever.
But seriously I agree with all the others in saying that I don't recall a bracket like that on my 59 and I had everything apart on that..

It looks a little like a headlight travel stop bracket from a later Corvette, but not exactly. It does appear to have wear on the solid end where something was hitting it or resting on it.

You'd be surprised at how a car can kick up stuff that it runs over. That part probably was on the road and your tire hit an edge of it which boomeranged it into the under carriage.....and that's what you heard. That's happened to me with a wrench on the road. Banged around for a little while and got stuck in the lower rad shroud........free wrench!
