Default Heard GM stopped taking orders for Convertibles

Heard from a NH dealer that GM is no longer taking any orders for Convertibles.
Bummer was working up a deal with some dealers and had a quote in hand. I guess my Stingray 2LT vert with M7, MRC and Performance exhaust is not an option unless someone trades one in on a C8 down the road as there are None available on dealers lots.
Move on to plan B...

Well, it looks like C7 manual, convertibles are going to hang on to their value quite well. I'm sure as hell hanging on to mine.

Wow!

Would love to hear confirmation from one of the large forum dealers (Kerbeck, Criswell, MacMulkin). Call one of them before you give up. They all have extensive pull with GM and plenty of allocations.

I kinda assumed "a NH dealer" was MacMulkin...

Heard that on an e mail from MacCulkin..They are not a small volume dealer and should know. Tried to confirm with Mike Furman but he was out.
I called my local dealer who had been also working up a price for me and they told me the owner yesterday put in a large order for a bunch of only Convertibles in 1LT trim but all with A8's. I want a 2LT with M7... The salesman said there had to be a good reason why he ordered so many at one time.
If anyone has any other info please let us know..

Not surprised. A few dealers have said that this is what would happen. They will start phasing out models and options as they run the parts out.

That surprises me as I heard order cut-off dates were late June for convertibles and early July for coupes.

In another thread, Dave from Kerbeck said on May 21st that it looked like late June cut off for convertibles and July for coupes.

He wasn't saying it was confirmed by GM.

Looks like everyone that was holding on for the best deal better get their order in.

I can only hope that some posters are right and the info I got was in error and the cut off is in fact sometime in June.

Sorry to hear that, for your sake. Had you been talking to Macmulkin previous to the call where you were told no more convertibles? If so I'm surprised they wouldn't give you a warning to get your order in. Mine convertible 2lt stick shift was delivered last Oct!! Glad I bought it when I did. Hope you find one somewhere

Hopefully you can find what you are looking for - would be a shame to have missed out on the right car for you.

Ordered a GS Vert M7 last August. Trying to find a Vert with M7 in dealer inventory is very difficult. I never understand why since imo the vert with M7 is the best combo you can get. You get the full driving experience with the top down and fully engaged by rowing your own gears.

That is exactly right. Ask me how I know.

A pure sports car is; A) Rag top convertible B) Manual (M7) transmission. I'm extremely pleased that I found one with ALL the goodies I wanted and more, in as you wrote; "the best combo you can get!"

rrepp,
Want to make it clear. MacCulkin did NOT mislead me. This was my first communication with them. I got the word when I asked for a price quote on a specific car I wanted to order...
Still will try to order if possible and will try to run down the official word from GM the first of the week..

The problem is that we C7 buyers who believe that the convertible / M7 is the best combo are in the extreme minority since only about 22% of total C7 buyers prefer M7s and only about 17% prefer convertibles.
Car Dealers typically order C7s for their inventory that they are most likely to sell the quickest. It's just smart business practice.

A good example would be Skid Row Joe's 3LT-M7- Vert base Stingray which he claims sat on dealer's lots for about year and a half before he purchased it at close to 20% off MSRP.

Trying to predict the future of what will or will not be desirable is by no means an exact science. I think this is going to be true regarding manual vs auto tranny (love them or hate them). In the future low volume combinations could be the six figure auction darlings or the street corner buy here pay here specials.
Crap shoot at best.
Here is an idea, get what you want and enjoy the hell out of it.

I agree, it's not about future collector value, and it's very silly to think that way. However, one of the lessons learned from that market is that all things being equal, manuals bring more in those auctions than autos. Similarly, I think manual C7s will outperform autos in the used car market, and convertibles will outperform coupes. Combine those two, and you'll probably do better on resale value down the road.
