Just checked out a local ZR1 for sale for 48k, took it to a dealer and they found a leaky transmission, aftermarket clutch, no cats, a tune (no CEL) and some potential paint damage.
Car lot wants 48k for it.
Is that worth it?
Quote for repair on the transmission is 4K from the dealership.
It needs new rear tires, ride height fixed and an alignment and of course a set of cats put on.
I should clarify its a 2010 with 37K miles.

C6 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
I've seen really nice 1ZR's listed for low to mid fifties. I'd rather buy something that's been taken care of from the get-go. Especially considering you'll be in that price range anyway with repairs and maintenance.

Look like it as been molested. Red flag for me

You could always hammer them on price... where is the leak on the trans? No cats is no big deal, common cheap mod to get more power and the “tune” was done so that no cel came on.... post the dealer estimate to see what kind of bullshit they want to charge for 4 grand

The leak is between the main body and the tail housing (not between the diff and the trans), the ZR1 tech said it would require an R&R of the rear subframe.
I would agree on the cats but sadly I live in an emissions county so I can't get away without them, the car definitely doesn't pass a sniff test.
Positives on the car are the Kooks long tubes are already done so all I would need to do is throw on the green cats (1700) and I would be safe.
It does have an ARP wing on the back I could probably sell for part of the repairs.

A 1ZR with that many miles, 48k is retail for a car that needs nothing. I would not give a dollar over 38K for that car. I have a whole US dollar that says they did not take of the rotors and weight them (I would check those closely). But on the bright side, your dash will never come unglued

You're not all that far off from a much nicer condition ZR at that price. We're talking maybe another $5K. For merely 10% more, you can have one that's been a one owner, well cared for with a documented history. And with a car that's known to be beat on when it gets lost in the short-term ownership hand-changes, that's worth it's weight in gold.
I've got one of those ZRs that's got a confusing history, and the questions never end about what it's sustained in only 8K miles.

What serial number is the 2010? Last four digits of vin. You can look it up on the registry. https://www.corvetteactioncenter.com...-zr1-registry/

Cause its a ZR1 and there is less then 50 for sale statewide, the cheapest one ive seen sold was like 45k and it was rough paint/body damage with high miles. There isn't much difference in price from a mid 30-40k mile, tracked ZR and a 15k mile garage queen ZR. I passed on several cars and looked for about 2 years before I found mine patience pays off sometimes.

I would rather not say just incase someone else in the market tries to find it. I am sure it wouldn't be hard from my description but still.
