Default radiator leak

hey fellas I have had my 08 C6 for about 4 months and now that its starting to warm up here in North Texas I seem to have developed a mysterious leak? it comes from the front drivers side but when I have checked I cant seem to trace it, anyway it does not get hot while driving just after I have stopped seems to be a small puddle about the size of notebook any ideas to help me trouble shoot is appreciated.

If the C6 radiator is the same as the C5 (which it probably is) it's probably leaking from the plastic tank on one side or the other if it is actually the radiator. You can also check the coolant reservoir as these tend to develop leaks, or the water pump itself. I have seen leaks from both the radiator and the coolant tank.

I had a leak that took me awhile to find. I could see the coolant, but not where it was originating from. I did a 12 hour cold pressure test and finally saw the small seepage coming from behind the water pump pulley. It was the water pump seal leaking.
I was not overheating, and very minimal coolant loss as well.
As the seal leak got worse, I started to see coolant on the belts, but only some of the time, I guess depending upon where the water pump shaft stopped when parked.

I replaced the pump, and no issues since. That was approx 60K miles ago

If you see a puddle near your drivers side tire it is a small crack in the side tank my 08 had the same problem.Remove your air intake and the 4 bolts that hold down the plastic radiator support and you should see where it is leaking. My was cracked about 5" down from the top.Good Luck..BTW: there have been many posts over the years with the early ACDelco rads having this problem.

First thing to check is the color and smell of puddle to make sure it's Dexcool you're seeing, and not condensation from the AC, which is normal.

The AC condensation drains down on the other side near the rear of the engine no where near the radiator......My never hits the pavement it drips on the headers.

I always taste it. If it tastes really sweet- it's antifreeze.

By the way, don't forget to spit it out.

Good luck.

your tablets won't work on the plastic, crappy fix anyway. get a DeWitts and any cooling problems in TX will go away

DeWitts...and make sure you do not have dissimilar metals in the cooling circuit, as it will set up galvanic corrosion creating pin hole leaks in all that expensive aluminum.

P.S. heed post 11...

Just replace it. It is pretty easy to replace and not very expensive.

Perfect time to upgrade to a much better performing DeWitts.

It's either Dewitt's or OEM. There are no other options.

There is eBay (not recommended - do some searches) and Mishimoto just came out with a c6 radiator this year. Looks pretty top notch.

If I’m not mistaken, A&A makes one too.
