Default Sold the C7 - Moving on in prep for the C8

I've owned 4 C5s and this C7. Never truly fell in love with this car. It was a good car, but not the best I've ever owned. I like everything I'm seeing about the C8 so I put down two deposits (local dealer and volume dealer) and decided to sell the C7 before the market is flooded with them. Sold car this weekend to the local Maserati dealer via a surprisingly good “instant cash offer” from KBB. They paid the KBB price w/o even driving the car. They were only around a grand off what I would have taken for the car private party. Worth it to not sit on the car all summer and pay insurance and property tax etc.

Car is already on their lot... drove by it today at lunch.... didn't feel anything, which is odd. Oh well... save the wave see everyone in C8 Gen.

You are to be at least one year before you drive another Corvette if you want a C8 and nothing else

My son took his Camaro in for a rattle and they butchered his interior, then denied it. I’m waiting a year or two till they get the bugs out of the C8. I want to stay as far away from dealers as I can after what happened to him. I’m not interested in being the guinea pig for GM and their crappy dealers.

Wow surprised, you have A LOT of time into that car, judging by all your posts seeking info on projects. Good luck with the C8.

yeah but don't you lose the tax credit toward the C8 purchase by selling it now? i mean if they gave you $45k in my state it would net you a savings of $3k... not to mention losing the entire driving season (if you're in the north??}

I never buy a new Vette before the 5th year of any given version's production... period. I cannot begin to imagine the bugs of the C8! But, I guess there are always early adapters to deal with the initial glitches.

I'm in Virginia where trade doesn't reduce your tax liability. Drive my Vettes year round. By the time my C8 vert is ready next Feb/March the C7 will be high 20s IMO. Plus, the car needed tires soon and plugs eventually (more work on a C7). A 2014 2TL Z51 with 56K miles isn't a $45K car. Retail is $36 to $38K.

Sucks to miss 4 years of fun.

Congrats OP, I'm sure you'll enjoy the C8. As for me, I'm going the other way. I sold my 1LE Camaro, kept my Z51 and i'm preparing to pounce on a super low mile C7 Z06 by a private owner when/if the selling (market flooding) begins or a GS from the dealer in the late fall when the real discounted sales start.

Congratulations - you certainly have a solid execution plan for a C8. I’m waiting for a (predictable) GS version of the C8.

It does suck... my 3 year old asked me this morning where the car went again. I explained to her that I sold it and someone else has it now. But, she followed up with "We're going to get another one? A blue one? Later right Daddy?" and all is well.

I am like others with first yr production but the 2014 C7 wasn't a bad ride. No A8 TC issues to amount to much. Hard to tell about C8, good luck going forward.

I'm doing the same thing as Tool Hoarder but for a slightly different reason. I am scheduled for a quadruple bypass the week of 7/8 and will not be able to drive for a month after that. I'll miss the Street Machine Nationals here in MN as well and possibly the IMSA race at Road America. By the time I can drive it will be mid-August and most of the car events are done for the season around here soon after that. I am selling it to a large dealer and am getting very close to retail for it. Better to take the $ now than wait until the C8 is out and the values drop. I'll use part of the proceeds as a deposit on a C8-just checking out some local dealers who will sell at MSRP-and there are some with allocations. I still have my '84 which I've owned since new and has only 26,000 miles so I can still get my Corvette fix albeit in a less powerful version!

Best of luck with the bypass surgery! Getting close to retail is awesome. How'd you manage that? I used Carvana, Vroom, and KBB and KBB was the strongest offer. Vroom matched KBB, but KBB had a participating dealer a block from my office. All quotes were wholesale/trade-in offers, but the KBB one was very close to Private Party value.
