Default I can't stand the roof creaking anymore

So I finally taking my '15 Stingray to get the striker and pin replace. Unfortunately, GM extended warranty does not cover any of the roof parts. So it's coming out of pocket. I tried to live with it for the past 3 months but it just getting worst and worst. I also notice that ventilated seat fan on the back of the seat is not functional on both driver and passenger side. I only get the air from the seat (underneath me). Hopefully the deal covers that under the extended warranty.

Sorry to hear about the roof creaking. You just taught me something though; I had no idea the seats had a fan in the back too. Now I'll have to check mine to see if they're working as I've only notice them in the bottom. Thanks!

A temporary fix is to place a small piece of rubber in the latch that squeaks. Try a piece of bike tire tube. Maybe that will keep you enjoying your car until you can get it in.

The squeaky/clicking/rattling roof and all the official and otherwise "fixes" have been beat to death here. A quick search will find you all sorts of things you can try on your own. One or two may work for you. For my later purchase clear roof from a Forum member it took tightening the rear latch one turn. And, since it was just taken of a new car it came with all the latest factory mods. One never knows what will or won't work on any given roof/car combo. All the best, in any event.

Default frustrating

I get it, nice car, cheap noises; I had a lot of success with dielectric (sp?) grease from GM on my C6's. Mechanic recommended it and GM sells the product; if it makes noises again, try that as well

There is NO fan on the seat back. The fix for the creaking roof can be fixed by you. Just so a search. Many, many suggestions!

Thanks for the info. I am not mechanically inclined to do anything on my own. So I will let the dealer fix it.

I bought a box of o-rings and inserted one in each front roof latch. No more squeeks.

I knew my creak was coming from the right side, above the visor. Did the search-greased the metal studs, studs checked for tightness, put in the O-rings, conditioned weather stripping. No change! I pulled the top off and laid it upside down on the kitchen table. Starting playing with the latches. I discovered a creak in the right side latch when I moved it a certain way. Plastic on plastic, plastic on metal, I don't know. Just knew it creaked. Latch bolt was tight. I sprayed some silicone into the joint. Popped the top back on and took it for a ride. Done Deal, Quiet. Just one man's story and I am sticking to it. Good luck!!!

Good luck getting the creaking fixed. Noises can be a real PITA to find, but sometimes the solution turns out to be something simple.

I have two O rings on each striker on my clear top and my painted top. Made a huge difference. Also the clear top had a rattle coming from the rear latch cover. It has two Allen style screws. I bought the correct size Allen key from a hardware store tightened each one just a little and that took care of that.

here is a youtube video from the corvette mechanic and his good looking partner...Brittany...
when I had my c6 the roof would make lots of noise. With the C7 my plan is to never remove it...hoping that will prevent the noise from starting. So far so good.

Yep, there is a single fan on the back! Watch this video:
Just noticed, you can even see it in this pic from the YouTube Video! Three small fans hat blow air from inside the car to your rear and back.

Nope! You’re right. That white ~3/8 inch thick mesh that is right below the leather (3LT) or faux Mulan leather or vinyl on 1LT or 2LT. is what helps circulate the cooled cabin air.

Note, the cabin air has to be cool first! Also depends on what you wear. It was 100 yesterday and was wearing shorts and a thin TEE shirts so it was fine.

However that mesh is above the heating elements so unlike the C6 that you could feel heat in ~2 minutes, takes about 10 before I have to change from 3 bars to 1! Heat has to conduct through that mesh air. Like most things in life, a compromise.

I had experience with the C6 popping, finally got that fixed. C7 I had repaired under warranty - replaced both front latches.... .

The dealer has finally received the parts. I have to wait until August 8th to get it fixed. They estimated 819 CAD for the job.

Surely you jest. You are going to pay over $500 US to fix a squeak that you can probably fix for less than $10?

If I want to sell my C7 for a C8, I have to get it fixed right. Tire tube is not a solution.
