I figured this thread was going to be about the c8 being a disaster like the 737 Max.

We used to work with the CH-53 Squadron on their night vision goggle mountain and nap of the earth training. Nice guys, good flyers, but the base commander who wasn’t a pilot was extremely arrogant and established goggle SOPs that greatly hampered flight safety. He stuck his nose in areas where he had zero expertise. After they moved out (San Diego?) we had the opportunity of driving our cars through the hangars which was visually and acoustically quite cool.

GM has picked a great venue. I would hazard that the show will enable a great C8 launch event.

The C8 will likely be just fine whereas the MAX just keeps running into more and more roadblocks and one of the other plane types is having its own issues too and now Boeing just announced they are pursuing the new 797, maybe by 2028? If they pursue the single pilot cockpit they are trying to lure the airlines with, it will change the course of domestic aviation globally just as Airbus also keeps threatening to do. These are not good developments.

Boeing lost its way after the McDonnel Douglas merger when McD somehow more or less used Boeing’s money to buy Boeing. Before the merger Boeing was an aeronautical engineering and manufacturing company run by the engineers. McD was an airplane manufacturing company run by the sales and marketing people. When the McD marketing team pretty much took over Boeing, things started going a little awry and the MAX was the unfortunate result where marketing driven decisions overrode engineering considerations.

Single pilot large airliners would be the next likely unfortunate decision promoted by a marketing department run aircraft manufacturer.

All-in-all, GM and Chevy seem to be pursuing their Corvette and C8 objectives on a more logical and optimal path.

Agreed. Hopefully our legislation never allows single pilot carriers in 121 period.. I hope every one got the joke with the mcas because some people make it seem like the sky is falling with the MEC. I'm very excited and think GM is going the right direction with this move unlike Boeing has been with everything post 757.
