Grading the event itself... What a stiff parade
Man. Some things never change. Including the stuffed shirt mentality at G.M. They spent a TON of money on that event and it was nothing but an anticlimactic mish-mash of talking heads, stuffed shirts, and cliche after cliche.
First, I don't care what their title is, if they can't talk in a public speaking environment, then they shouldn't. These guys not only couldn't speak, they had all the emotion of a dry fire hydrant. Find people in the organization who can speak dynamically in public, or hire cool actors.
Second, the photography was horrible. Get rid of the extreme close-ups that are nothing but disorienting and prohibit the audience from taking in the car as a whole.
Third, don't retell the same story over and over. We know what the Corvette is. Find some story that brings drama to the telling. There was plenty of behind the scenes drama over the mid engine development. Latch onto that and weave it into the presentation.
Fourth, if you can't drive fast and dynamically in the venue, then don't drive at all. Or do something fun and drive onto a platform in the middle of the audience. ANYTHING but the high-school assembly way they did it.
Fifth, find some human interest. Have one or a group of little people tell some fun stories from driving the mules around the world. Good grief, there's gotta be some great, cool, stuff there.
Finally, GM and Chevrolet and Corvette need to divest themselves of their old school, stuffed-shirt image. And this Lawrence Welk production did not help... It is bizarre they have ZERO self-awareness.

I just couldn't handle the woman who was the MC. She wouldn't stop moving her arms and the fake excitement from her was a bit over-the-top.

I agree, the whole production was horrible. Amateurish at best.

What annoyed me was the camera jumps, especially when Tadge was talking. They briefly show the onscreen cut-aways of the car, then they suddenly jump to a random shot of the audience. Why? I want to see the car and cut-aways, not the audience.

Could not disagree more. Exactly the presentation serious people wanted...facts, facts, and more FACTS!
Save the bullsheet Elon Musk crap and the artificial excitement. They augmented reality presentation onto a live stream was amazing.

When the talking head stops talking so the audience can applaud and they don't so he starts clapping and then only 4 or 5 in the audience claps, and you then see the hurt in his face. The crowd wasn't all that happy over a bunch of stuff that was said from the stage.

Turned off the reveal after a sincere attempt to stay interested, but man those clowns could suck the air out of any room and make even a new Corvette sound too dull to continue. In other words, typical GM. It seems their corporate culture has not changed since the 1950s --- they're arrogant incompetents. The actual car is horrid inside and out, but it deserved better than it got.

The whole first part of the presentation with the rockets, astronauts and space travel screamed Tesla. Yes GM, you're still innovative..... I mean, I'd take artificial excitement over a monotonous presentation anyday, especially when revealing THE NEW CORVETTE!!!!

- THAT! Disappointed and surprised how unprofessional professionals can be outside their area of expertise. Except the few that aren't. Dan Gurney comes to mind.

I went to view the C8 reveal , I was not let down, they made it happen, give them some slack. William Shatner though of Star Trek could of spiced it up a bit as speaker.

Give GENERAL MOTORS "some slack?"
These nitwits had 10 years and millions of dollars to figure it out. And it was like they went out of their way to make themselves look like the same old same old.
No excuse.

I liked it. I like real people talking about their real jobs. I don't care about Oscar-winning performances in something like tonight. I enjoyed seeing their pride.

Was it the presentation or the audience? I've seen more audience excitement at a Prozac convention. Something was wrong with that audience.
