Default C8 rear cradle shear plate

Does anyone know what size and type socket (torx, spline, 6 point, 10 point, 12 point, etc) is required to remove the Rear Cradle Shear Plate ?
I found it:
Requires e16 Torx socket to remove Rear Cradle Shear Plate

Just wondering why the shear plate was being removed?

To change the DCT canister filter, you need to remove the cradle shear plate to be able to access it.

Not Sure About 2000-2022 Models, But The 2023 C8's Use an "External Torx PLUS EP14" Socket For The Rear Aluminum, Shear Plate, NOT a Regular E14-16 External Torx Socket. Regular External Torx Sockets Will Round The Heads Off The (22) GM# 11603969 External Torx Plus Bolts. FYI

Most of the Torx, not sure if all are EPTorx. Regular Torx may work but will be loose and you may damage the bolt head. I just ordered a set of the EPTorx sockets.

I've tried an EP14 on those bolts and a modified Craftsman E14 and the Craftsman fits better than the EP14 on the bolt heads.

Interesting 🤔. My EP14 is a 100% snug fit with zero slop/play, and even the OEM part number states it’s an “EP14” 6 lobe bolt.

After I modified and used my Craftsman E14 for the cradle bolts I then bought a set of EP Torx for for future use. When I put the Craftsman E14 on the bolt head it wouldn't move at all while the EP14 had a little movement, although not very much, similar to how most 6 point sockets fit on bolt heads. The only advantage I can see with my EP Torx set is that they are impact rated while my Craftsman is just a standard CV steel socket.

The Torx Plus bolts on the sheer plate have low profile heads. The proper socket for these bolts are low profile EP sockets but those sockets are expensive. So you can risk stripping the heads, grind off the chamfer on standard EP sockets, buy a low profile EP socket set, or buy a EP socket set without much chamfer.

The Lisle 83100 socket set isn't listed as a low profile set but they have very little chamfer:

Have you purchased these and tried to use them on the shear plate?

I purchased them and checked the fit on the sheer plate bolts while I had my C8 on my lift doing an oil change. I did not remove the sher plate but I think I used them on some other bolts underneath the car (I can't remember).

The Torx bolts are a real pain. Even with the right socket, my impact keeps slipping off.
My solution: Replace the bolts with HexHead bolts with a captured washer.
I have had the pan off several times for trans filter change. Hex head bolts make it easy.
