Test fiting and working with bezel design and fit. Fits the OEM console with NO modifications at all...plug and play. 75% of the way there...just tweaking and redesigning.
C5 Corvette 2023 Radio Upgrade with HVAC function, soon to be released by KnightDriveTV
You have a TON of options. I sort of depends on what you are looking for. The biggest issue is that the stock head unit in the C5 is one and a half DIN. There really aren't any aftermarket options in that size. You can mount a single DIN head unit in the that space, aand there a filler plates that cover the gaps. This is easy, and does not require any major modifications. The other option is to purchase an aftermarket center console that will allow you to install a full double DIN option. Keep in mind most of these will result in you no longer having an ash try or cup holder cover. They also tend to not perfectly match the other stock interior pieces. The Vettenuts console is better, but hard to get your hands on. The Third option is that there is a Joying head unit that can fit in the stock bezel, but the unit has to be rooted for the screen to properly display in the space.
If you just want something that will play CDs, then a single DIN unit will work just fine for you. If you want a nice touch screen with camera compatibility and wireless phone connection, a double DIN or Joying unit would be the better choice. There are a TON of threads on this topic. You might also want to check out the audio/electronics section of the forum. Good luck!
None - I went Headunit-less - Bluetooth receiver to 5-channel amp to speakers. Run the music from my phone. Simple, clean, no fuss no muss no hippopotamus, works 100%.
I went with the Pioneer SPH-10BT. I ordered a custom plate from a guy in Canada that I found in this forum with the option for a LED backlight behind the Corvette cutout. It holds my phone, uses the Pioneer Sync app and gives me everything I need and the unit is less than $200.
I am going to stick with what I have for now as even the Trunk changer works.
But I may add a Redi Rad Unit so I can play MP3 music on my phone. I have on in my older Pontiac and it works really good unlike the cheap cigarette adapters.
They go on sale now and then at Ecklers. I want to keep things original as long as I can. And I want to avoid the hacked up looking dash as some come out.
I liked this Alpine and was able to fit the mic nicely into the tray. Huge improvement in sound and phone is crystal clear. It also has the same interior lighting as a choice (although in this pic I had the station color blue for some reason).
Pioneer 7 inch, installed by Best Buy for free because I bought there head unit. The radio bezel is one off eBay, it doesn’t match perfectly, but it works. My car is not a show car. Drive it and enjoy it.
alpine ilx 650... best option out there if you don't need a CD. half the depth of any other DD out there, and works fantastic-- includes android auto and apple carplay.
I went double din back in 2012 and updated the head unit to an Alpine with Apple Car Play in 2018. Just refreshed my DD bezel as part of my interior upgrade last winter. The Alpine unit I have loads CDs and other media from behind the screen and has a tilt screen feature so that's why it's slightly angled up in case you're wondering why it's not flush.
That being said, I don't listen to music in this car. Car is too loud and obnoxious not just from the exhaust either. The road noise IMO is terrible in these cars even with a dynomat type product installed.
I went double din for the sole purpose of using android auto and the Waze app.
Traffic around here is suicidal at times so anything to give an edge helps.
^ I used to be all Pioneer until I had a couple of them that were junk back to back. Switched to a JVC, which is just Kenwood with a different name. It was easier to find a unit with 4V (and sometimes even 5V) RCAs.
My car has a JVC double DIN that has AA and CarPlay that's from 2017. I may update it to a newer unit with wireless and a front camera input... but not until this one dies, I reckon.
