Do J55 brakes share the same front brake hoses as earlier (1993) base 12” brakes?
Curious if j55 brake calipers use a unique hose, or if they use the same hose that non-j55 brakes use (on a 1993)

Front and rear hoses regardless of the brake RPO are the same for 'same' years. There are different part numbers for various years. '88 - '92 are L/F, R/F - ironically for '93 GM SPO mentions both fronts being the same part number and then '94 - '96 being again L/F, R/F and different part numbers. Having 2 '93 cars maybe you can confirm that on the frame bracket that the indexing would allow the same to be used on either side. I've never known anyone that actually confirmed that. Do you have a pair of thought to be originals? This is SPO through '93 (last year for paper SPO Parts Catalogs)

im asking this question bc I want toreplace hoses on my 1993 (with j55 13” calipers)
i installed (now discontinued) earls stainless braided hoses in 2003 on this car. At the time i had 1993 12” OEM brakes on it when i did rhe conversion, and them upgraded to j55’s in 2006 (using the same hoses)
I also have a RF j55 grandsport caliper that one of the pistons doesnt seem to release correctly resulting in premature rf caliper/rotor wear. Interestingly, there is no ‘pull right’ or anything and the braking performance is great.
i did rebuild this caliper but havent tested anything out yet
Given the ‘age’ and ‘issue’ i mentioned above, i want to replace the hoses
mid anerica, corvette central; etc catalogs act like 1993 is an oddball - but i have 1996 j55 grandsport brakes on it anyways
and am trying to figure out if i can use 1996 parts on it

Generally speaking the bracket on the frame is indexed to allow very easy 'correct orientation' for BGR assembly line. That very likely changed for '93 and maybe then again for '94+. There's likely good, better and best for any of the after-market! I imagine maybe any of the vendors you mention have maybe compromised fabrication looking for $$$.
I believe that there are likely very good fabricators that can offer much better quality than any of the vendors offer and says are correct.
You're not rushed - I'd suggest maybe a 'local' fabrication shop?
Off-the-shelf maybe the Wilwood offering would be considered a 'go to'. Are they DOT approved? No idea. You could ask. Maybe use a Wilwood image and ask a local if they can duplicate.
