Default Need advice on connecting Battery maintainer

I am using my battery maintainer that I used with my C7. With my C7 I just close the trunk and run the wire at the side of the trunk and it worked just fine. On my C8 I am trying to find out where do you all run the wire when you close the front trunk or you just leave the trunk open?

I too am using the battery maintainer that came with my C7. I just leave the frunk ajar. I put it down just before it engages the lock.

if you have a quick disconnect like battery maintainer usually uses and you really do want to shut your frunk, due to crime, weather, etc, you can run a quick disconnect right down behind the tow eye cover, pop the cover, and plug it in. The cover has a tether on it so it loosens, but does not fall off.

On the passenger side, right at the edge (at the base of the window, there's a spot to run the cord out (without compressing any rubber seal. On the driver's side, right next to the wiper post, same idea. My car is parked outside so during winter I have to have the frunk closed.

As stated above…

use this slit and you can close the frunk all the way w no issue. I staged this photo but I put cloth under wire where it crosses passenger fender

There is an advantage to leaving the frunk open or ajar. If you forget it's plugged in and try to put the car in drive, you get a message telling you the frunk is open and it won't go into drive. This prevents you from driving away and ya king on the cord as you do. That, and the fact that if I'm plugging the car in, it's in my garage anyway, is why I just leave it ajar.

I made a big sign on a piece of card board flap with the big letters written " Remove Battery Charger do not start" after I almost pulled out of the garage with it connected. I place the sign on the windshield.

I don’t but others have worried about mice etc.
I personally leave the unused connector for my charger-Non GM branded CTek- on the steering wheel so I can’t forget

Have to say that is a good feature - don't want to drive off and rip the maintainer power cord out of the wall.

I don't use the maintainer often, just when the car is going to be parked more than a few days. When I do use it I leave the frunk open so I don't accidentally forget the maintainer is plugged in.

I get wanting to have the frunk closed if the car is parked outside, but if it is inside the garage (like I assume the majority of C8s here) I don't see why you would want to fully close it. When I hook up the tender, I just lower the lid without it latching at all. That way when I go to remove the plug I do not have to unlatch the lid and if I somehow forgot to unplug it before using the car there would be the frunk open warning message that pops up on the dash as soon as I started the car. Mice will be able to get inside the car with or without the lid open so if that is the concern, I'd say a trap set nearby baited with peanut butter would be a better idea.

I know each of us have our reasons BUT there is no need to use a Maintenace Charger for fear of starting up to ~40 days!

The C7 and C8 Corvette have circuits that shut all significant power off after 5 to 10 minutes. Andy Bump measure <15 milliamps current draw after ~10 minutes in his C8. For comparison a 5 Watt nightlight bulb draws ~50 milliamps. My street rod with no fancy circuits is about 50 milliamps parasitic current draw (remote door opener control is always on- no door handles-, digital dash OD retention etc.)

This pic is assembled from my 2014 four volume service manual showing an 80% charged battery with a 25-milliamp current draw can start the car after 33 days parked. I have been on 3-week vacations in the summer with my two C7's and my 2020 C8 and the car started fine without a battery charger connected. Some have been parked at airports over 4 weeks and report no problem.

Parking for 3 months in the winter-SURE, not driving for a week- NOT NEEDED!

Car lives in the garage so I just plug it in and leave the frunk lid unlocked.

I just leave the frunk completely open when I'm on the maintainer.
