Default Aftermarket Exhaust Drone

Any suggestions from owners on which non-track exhaust system delivers the best sound with no drone while cruising?
Thanks!

Drone is subjective. I have Borla ATAK. While Borla claims drone-free, it still has minimal resonation around 2K. It doesn’t bother me, but it’s there under load. I had Corsa Extreme on a C7 Z06 and never noticed any resonation. If you’re sensitive to drone, then I suggest checking out Corsa, or perhaps the Borla GM version.

I had a Corsa Indy Pace Car exhaust on my last C5 and no drone that I could tell.

The $1000-$1200 chinese made stainless "Touring Exhaust" systems sold by various vendors like 2MF and Juggernaut are loud on startup enrichment, but quiet down nicely after 30 seconds. They are quiet and absolutely no drone while cruising on the highway + saves 60 pounds over the stock NPP system. These systems are extremely high quality, the fit is dead perfect (and I am very picky about tip alignment to bumper cover), and the tig welds are made by an artist. No heat issues, although I wrapped the top part of my systems with DEI heat wrap just to be sure. NPP simulators = no codes or valve relearns to fool with. Now after a couple months of heat cycling, the polished stainless has turned a cool looking light bronze color.

I bought mine from Juggernaut Motorsports: https://www.juggernautmotorsports.co...haust-corvette

$4-5K for the various "Corvette Tax" exhausts = a hard pass.

The sound while on the gas is wild and transformed the car. Several have told me it sounds better than C8Z......best $1,200 I have ever spent.

Check out LeMansEdition.com
We have both Street and Track options. With and without NPP. All USA made. Our systems do not have a drone. In the C8, you will have a deeper tone in 4cyl vs 8cyl. Most drive in Z-mode 👍 Great warranty and amazing tone.

I thought 2M was made in the US ? Any difference between 2M and Juggernaut?

Nothing about 2M is American made, despite whatever lies they spout on their website.

I have no issues with quality and craftsmanship regardless of where it is made, China or elsewhere, and C8 Corvette's foreign parts content is 60%. I do have issues with advertising something as American made when it is not = hard pass on 2MF as well as RPI and others who do this.

The Juggernaut guys are well stocked and ship fast. I've watched guys welding Indy car exhaust in a jig. Back purged TIG welding thin gauge metals is not for rookies, and the welds and precision on these systems is aerospace grade.

No difference, they are the same exhaust system made by the same company in China.

Thanks for your comments!
How many miles do you have on your 2M/Juggernaut system?
Where did you get and cost of NPP/AFM simulators?
Please comment on difficulty/time required to DIY, or cost to have installed.
Tanks again!

Nearly 1k miles on the Juggernaut system.....absolutely no regrets. Startup sounds like a Rolls Royce Merlin.....my GF waits inside for 30 seconds until it calms down....lol. Part throttle cruising under 2k rpm it is dead quiet......no drone, and can't hear it on the interstate @ 75mph. My favorite is a couple of local bars we frequent and are in there long enough for the car to cool down. Come out to leave and startup in the parking lot always gets a lot of attention.....including from 5-0......positive comments nearly every time "now THAT sounds like a Corvette".

Features:
  • Integrated Dual Resonators - Removes the rasp from the exhaust sound.
  • Dual Flex Section - Removes the risk of cracking due to vibrations.
  • V-band Connections - Allows for leak free adjustment and flawless fitment.
  • Fully Adjustable Quad Exhaust Tips - In/Out and rotation to get the perfect exhaust tip placement.
  • CAD & CFD (computer aided design with computational fluid dynamics) designed for maximum horsepower and torque. Power gains as much as +14 hp and +15 ft/lbs of TQ
This exhaust is the reason I decided to keep the car instead of trading for Z06.....credit GM because uncorked the LT2 takes on a different character.....quick revving, raw, mean AF, and on WOT the old pushrod American small block just absolutely screams with a silken wail and not a hint of rasp. GM is stuck with all the EPA noise and emissions regs, so no blame on them that the stock and NPP systems are what they are.

Got the sims from Ebay - no codes and no issues at all: https://www.ebay.com/itm/176403339775

Took me 4 hours start to finish by myself. Lift car and remove both rear wheels and wheel liners. Remove bumper. Remove rear carpet and airbox cover. Remove NPP which is heavy AF (78 pounds), so have a small floor jack and a board to lower it down. Take care unplugging the exhaust valve connectors. Make sure to have at least 2 ft of 3/8 ratchet extensions to loosen/tighten the flange bolts from the very back....far easier that trying to get your hands down in the small space next to the airbox.

I advise to purchase new gaskets for both sides. Take the time to clean up the *** end while it's apart and then start installing the new system pipes working from the cats towards the tips. Leave the tips off until the bumper is back on and aligned. On a scale of 10 difficulty this is a 4 at most. Worst part of the job is taking the rear bumper off for the first time. Make sure the bumper plugs are in original tucked positions or it will cause bumper seam alignment problems.

Once the bumper is back on, install the passenger side tips and orient the clamp bolts to the left/inside like this:

The driver side tips with the clamp bolts to the right/inside like this:

Once the tips are aligned, you can reach up with a stubby ratchet and tighten the clamps. Position the v-band clamps with the bolts towards the rear and tucked up out of view. I used DEI exhaust wrap, but, I don't think it's necessary because of the generous clearance and good air movement with the bulbous factory exhaust out of the way.

I think OP you would love the new Level Up exhaust for C8 Stingray. They make two versions of the dual mode setup. A version that controls valves with a remote, or a version for z51 package cars that fully integrate into the car's drive modes with four electronic valves like the oem dual mode exhaust. Only $2,499.99 for either option. I'm currently running the version with the remote and there's absolutely zero drone in quiet mode. Maybe a touch in loud mode but it's nothing like my C6 Z06 with headers cam and Corsa Xtremes. I'm going to be getting these in about 2-4 weeks.

Level Up Dual Mode Exhaust for C8 Stingray

I do have Corsa dual mode options in stock as well Borla. Happy to go over options together.

The Factory NPP unit. There is no need for an aftermarket exhaust on the C8

I agree, no NEED!
But I WANT to hear more engine sound. On my prior Vettes I found headers delivered a nice boost in HP/TQ and sound with stock exhaust. On the C8, I'm OK with base LT2 power, but the sound just doesn't meet my expectations.

I agree 100% the oem dual mode exhaust on my C8 had to go immediately. I still have the temp tags on the car 🤣

I’ve had corsa systems on about 5 of my corvettes. Some with headers all with x pipes. Never heard droan which would drive me nuts. I had a c6 gs with the factory system for a short time, sounded Like a truck even pulling the fuse.

I do not believe for a second that this has no drone. Borla and Corsa do extensive R&D and back up the no drone and you get what you pay for . Premium build , no raspy junk and NO drone. Only the titanium , straight pipe exhaust is going to save you 50lbs. And no way will this sound better than a c8z on a reg c8. This write up is complete junk.
