I have a '66 Convertible, white with red interior for sale. See pics attached. The engine was replaced under warranty, so has a 'CE code" block stamp. A lot of new parts. Everything works...even the clock. Asking $62,000.

She spent most of her life in Nashville and Memphis. Only some surface rust on the frame, no rust showing on birdcage.

 

That’s a lovely car. No engine is ever considered original except the original engine. But a nice buy.

 

I started a thread discussing 'CE" engines and learned a lot. This forum has a bunch of well informed folks. So, yea, CE is not original and there are no records that track which car a CE engine went into as a warranty replacement.

 

I have owned this car since 2011. I bought it from a guy in Georgia who only

owned for a few months…long enough to have it re-painted and install a new

white soft top. It was owned by a guy in Memphis before that since 1979. I

don’t have any further history beyond that.

Since I have owned it, the gas tank, straps, sender, filler neck and gas deck

cover were replaced. All disc brake components have

been replaced, calipers (O ring type) pads and rotors, all brake hoses. The

brake lines are all good; no rust on this car. Both rear half shafts have been

replaced. The rear parking brake has been overhauled with stainless

components. The radiator was restored with a new core, keeping the original

upper and lower brass tanks with original markings. The entire exhaust

system was replaced, including the chrome tips. All shock absorbers have

been replaced. The front suspension has been overhauled with new tie rods,

ball joints, bushings, upper and lower control arms, idler arm and then a front

alignment. There are likely other repairs not listed. Most parts were acquired

from Corvette Central with some from Ecklers, I have the receipts. I also have

kept the original parts including the gas tank. This appears to be a no-hit car;

all the bonding strips appear original. The interior appears to be original with little

apparent wear.

This car is mostly original with exception of the engine, looks like a replacement engine

was installed at some point. It drives straight and the engine is smooth

and strong. This is not a show car but an imperfect driver you can enjoy

without being concerned about putting the first scratch on it. All the gauges,

lights, turn signals, back up lights, clock, after market radio with sub woofer (I

have the original radio), wipers and power antenna are working fine. She is

just waiting for the next owner of this lovely piece of history and classic art on

wheels.

 

I have reduced the asking price to $62,000.
